Dearest Joanne and family,
I met Dick and Joanne through Pickleball.. I was so intimidated by their skill that I kept my distance, so it took me a while to get to know them. Warm, welcoming and dedicated are the words that now come to mind. My prayers continue for you Joanne and your family.

What a wonderful faculty member! As computing entered every discipline at RIT, DIck embraced it, learned how to best use it, and tested every software iteration so that the students benefited from both his expertise and the latest software tools. Coordinating around the quarter system challenged this aspect of our work; Dick communicated and scheduled changes well in advance, a true blessing. I can hear him now, laughing. Task-oriented as we discussed time frames and modifications, there was seldom a meeting when his smile didn't permeate the meeting. Amongst the hundreds of faculty over the decades, Dick stands out as a "gentleman and a scholar."
May you soon find your mourning turns to happy memories of a life well lived.
