Dear Margaret and Family:
It was such a privilege to work with Dr. Joynt at the Medical Center. He was a great mentor, intellect, boss, wit and humanitarian. A true Renaissance man in every respect and one who taught all of us the meaning of great teaching and patient care. I will always remember our fund-raising trips to California and his commitment to building the finest medical institution at Rochester. I am out of town and unable to attend today. My sincere thoughts and prayers to your entire family.

Dear Mrs. Joynt, immediate family, and the extended family of UR Neurologists and Alumni,
There are many of us around the country and world who were inspired, educated, motivated, and often entertained, by Bob. I can't stop laughing to this day thinking about his lectures in his cerebral cortex hat or the National Enquirer photos of brain transplants that peppered his lectures. But I also can't stop trying to emulate him as a Neurologist, a human being, and lover of life. His kind words to me on the front pages of my copy of Baker and Joynt will always be cherished.
I was more than honored when he came to my Grand Rounds in Rochester just a couple of years ago. We have lost one of our very best.
Best wishes,
Steven Small

Dear Mrs. Joynt and family -
I had the enormous privilege of working under Bob during my tenure at the University of Rochester from 1986-2000. He often told me of his father who was a dentist. Bob was a truly remarkable mentor - he told you what you needed to know and not what you wanted to hear. He will be missed but certainly not forgotten.
With best wishes,

My heart is broken for my fellow Iowan... prince of a man, quick-witted and full of intellect and integrity, and always telling stories. One of the first I remember was him "looking up a passage in the bible to use in a lecture or talk. One of the kids walked by and said, "what doing? studying for your final?" Bob has finally passed that final exam, more than tested, more than worthy. Love and prayers to Margaret and all the family.

Dear Mrs. Joynt and family,
I had the great joy and privilege of teaching a graduate course for several years with Dr. Joynt. I never could bring myself to call him "Bob" out of my deep respect for him. Please accept my condolences for your loss, and know that he touched and enriched the lives of so many people whom you will probably never know or hear from. His passing is a great loss for all of us.
