Robert Platner Obituary
Greece: Thursday, December 17, 2015, at age 81. Survived by his loving wife, Sandra; children, Robert R. (Margaret) Platner, William Platner, Linda (Jeff) Perrin, Paul (Sue) Holmes & Nick Holmes; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins; loving family and dear friends.
Bob was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and served our Country in the Korean War. He was a past North Greece volunteer Firefighter and retired from Barnard Fire Dept., was a life service member and trustee at Barnard Exempts, and a member of the American Legion Post #468. Bob was well-loved and respected by many and will be dearly missed.
Bob's visitation will be held Monday, December 21st 4-8 PM at Vay-Schleich & Meeson Funeral Home, 1075 Long Pond Road, Greece Chapel. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, December 22nd, 9:30 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 3003 Dewey Ave. Interment, Holy Sepuchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Barnard Fire Department, 3084 Dewey Ave., Rochester, NY 14616. For more information and to sign his online guestbook, visit www.meesonfamily.com

Dear Sandy & family,
Bob's passing saddens the entire Greece Fire Community. He was a friend of all and highly respected on the fire ground.
I remember fighting fires with him back in the early 1960's at North Greece FD when he was active with us. See photo of Bob in NGFD uniform in the gallery. Indeed he has touched the hearts of his colleagues and we will miss him dearly.

Very sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was a great guy, and we truly enjoyed those years in the Wed. Nite Misfits. You and Bob were a big part of that, especially since you two took on many league responsibilities.
