Sally Hilliard Obituary

Hilliard, Sally M.

Caledonia, NY: Entered into rest on Monday, March 16th. Sally is survived by her 4 daughters and their husbands, Susanne (R. Andrew) Duclon of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Jocelyn (George) Merritt of Alexandria Bay, NY, Rebecca (Michael) Wyble of Caledonia, and Kimberly (William) Voellinger of Caledonia. She is survived by her sister-in-law, MaryAnn Kates of Ambler, PA, brother-in-law James A. Hilliard of Gainesville, Florida and brother-in-law Gene Mulvey of Bradenton, Florida. Surviving are 17 grandchildren that she adored: Elliot Howe, Morgan Howe, Carson Howe; Jenea Rychlicki, Stash Merritt, Melanie Mullins; Melissa Pello, Jaime Lasell, Catherine Wyble, Rebecca Ferguson, Jordan Wyble; Shane Denmark, Kevin Denmark, Samantha Hurley, Ashley Hurley, Kellen Denmark and Vivian Voellinger. She is also survived by 14 Great-Grandchildren and several nieces, nephews. Sally was pre-deceased by the love of her life, John W. Hilliard.

Sally Macy Hilliard was born Sally Jane Macy at Raceway Lodge on Quarry Road in the Town of Caledonia and she grew up with a deep love of horses. She loved a good Kentucky Derby party and was very knowledgeable about the horses participating. She wed John (Jack) W. Hilliard in May of 1950 and theirs was a never ending love story. Her family finds consolation in her passing with the belief that they are now reunited.

Sally enjoyed summers with family at Pine Island, in the Lake of the Isles at the St. Lawrence River. Her love of fishing, boating and the river was only surpassed by her love of family. Sally was known as Grandma Sal to many. She attended sporting events and proudly cheered on her Cal-Mum Alma mater no matter what the sport, weather or season. Family and friends knew never to call her when there was a Syracuse University basketball game on as that was her team.

Friends may call at the Alhart Funeral Home, 3068 W. Main Street in Caledonia on Thursday, March 19, from 4pm until 7pm. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 20, at the First Presbyterian Church 3080 Main Street in Caledonia at 11am with a reception immediately following the service. Burial will take place in Brockport with a private service for family in June. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Focus on the Children, P.O. Box 31, Caledonia, or the Big Springs Historical Society, P.O. Box 41, Caledonia, NY 14423. To share a memory of Sally or leave a condolence please visit: www.alhartfuneralhome.com

Words can not express the love she had for everyone. She is one of the last true Grandmothers a family could ever hope to have. She touched everyone in a kind, loving, and positive manner. She will be loved and remembered for eternity.
