Sally Keenan Obituary
Fairport: Sally passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Saturday, June 20, 2015. Predeceased by her parents, Earl and Elizabeth Cool. Sally is survived by her cherished husband and best friend of 56 years, Richard Keenan; children, Kelly (Todd) Bostian, Jacqueline Vanacore, Brian Keenan & Kristen (Chris) Briley; 11 devoted grandchildren, Nadia, Matthew & Josianne Keenan; Kota Briley; Mackenzie, Lila, Rylan, Neeli & Koren Vanacore; Samantha & Nicole Bostian; sister, Shirley (Richard) Foxx; daughter-in-law, Christine Keenan; sisters-in-law, Mary Wilkins & Theresa Keenan; brother-in-law, John Keenan; nieces and nephew, as well as many other loving relatives and dear friends.
Sally was a warmhearted person who had unconditional love for others. She was a genuine and faithful friend to all. Sally received her undergraduate degree from LeMoyne College in 1962. In 1967, she obtained her Master's degree in Education from the University of Rochester.
Friends are welcome to call at the RICHARD H. KEENAN FUNERAL HOME, (Egypt location) 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Road, Fairport, Wednesday 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Sally's Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday 11:15 AM at Church of the Assumption, 20 East Avenue, Fairport, 14450. Interment, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Fairport. In Sally's memory, donations may be made to The Church of the Assumption Memorial Fund.

this was an amazing lady and friend! She and her husband took care of my mom, dad, and grandfather with class, style, and kindness.We also had Mrs. Keenan as a history teacher in high school class of 1966 and played basketball with Mr.Keenan many times.again, one classy lady rest in peace!!

To my Beloved Keenan family, I have to say what everyone is thinking this sucks. I am so sorry I was not there for you during this hard time. The love and support of a mother can never be replaced. I've always been told it's not the person who dies who suffers but the one's who are left behind to grieve. Nicole Sammy I love you and you know how much you were loved by you grandma, the same with your cousins.
To Mrs. Keenan, you were truly the glue who kept the family together. I know you are at peace looking down at the ones grieving for you. I don't need to tell everyone how I met you and how nice you were because they know so I will say this:
God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you and whispered "come to me." With tearful eyes your family watched you, and saw you pass away. Although they loved you dearly, they could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke there hearts to prove to the rest of us, He only takes the best.

So sad to hear of Sally's passing. I first met Sally in the ICU waiting room at Geneva General Hospital. Her mom was in and my dad. She was the first to speak and she was so kind to my family. I will so miss seeing her at our 9:00 mass at Our Lady of Peace parish during the summer months. Such a lovely person. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Keenan's passing. She was a second mother to me for all of my childhood years and a lifetime neighbor. The Keenans took me on my first ever trip to Disney, including a non stop all night car ride I will never forget. She cooked me hundreds of wonderful meals over the course of my childhood, welcomed me at the cottage all summer, taught me numerous card games, taught me how to fold a shirt (differently than my mom folded one, and to this day I fold them Mrs. Keenan's way), endured non-stop messes and shenanagins that Kristen and I would put her through, and on and on. I remember watching her meticuloisly cut the eyes out of potatoes before boiling, a task I didn't know was necessary. Everything she did was perfection. Her guidance over the years has helped mold me into the adult I am now, and she probably didn't know the extent of her influence. She fought brave and hard, and will be forever be missed. Her legacy lives on in her four wonderful kids and grandkids. I am so sorry for your tremendous loss.

If there was ever a family who epitomizes the true meaning of community, it's the Keenan family. Having grown up in Fairport and around the Keenans, I can say without hesitation that their commitment, openness, and compassion for others is unparalleled. I know many, many others share that sentiment. Mrs. Keenan and her sweet, welcoming smile will be sorely missed.... She was a woman of such strong values and character, and a prominent role model in our lives as teenagers. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to be under her loving watch. She treated us all like family, long into our adulthood. I can't count how many times she and the Keenan family saw mine through our most difficult moments.
