Stephen Blackburn Obituary

Blackburn, Stephen Noble
Penfield: September 15, 1989-
September 25, 2007
Stephen is survived by his parents, Robert and Kathryn, his sister Meredith, his paternal grandmother Jacqueline Blackburn and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Stephen was recently predeceased by his sister, Laura, who shared his battle with Metachromatic Leukodystrophy. They are happy and playing together again. Stephen was also predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Lawrence Blackburn and his maternal grandparents, George and Frances Train.
Stephen was a strong, sweet, courageous young man with a spunky spirit that served him well during his life, particularly during his illness. His humor, laugh, and "that dimple" were a source of joy to the many lives he touched. Stephen was our hero.
Our family is fortunate to have had the love and support of so many people during the past 13 years. It is impossible to thank you enough for sharing your gifts with us, and becoming part of our extended family. We are very grateful.
There will be no prior calling hours. A Funeral Mass will be held to celebrate Stephen's life on Saturday, October 13th at 9:30 am at St. Joseph's Church, 43 Gebhardt Rd., Penfield.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to CompassionNet of Lifetime Care, 3111 Winton Road South, Rochester, NY 14623, or Heritage Christian Services, 349 W. Commercial St., E. Rochester, NY 14445.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Blackburn,
My daughter, Lindsey Ruff, just gave me the sad news. We have spoken of Stephen many times over the years since Lindsey and he were in class together at Cobbles, with Lindsey providing regular updates whenever she received them. (I was just asking about him recently, because I remember that he and I shared a birthday.)
Stephen made such an impression on us, and we will always remember the strength and courage of your family...always positive and smiling even through the most difficult times. I'm sure that God is holding Stephen, Laura, and your family in the palm of his hands. God Bless You. Steven will be forever remembered by the Ruff family.
Love, Vicki, Mike and Lindsey Ruff

Dear Blackburn family,
My heart is just aching for you in your loss. Stephen was such a wonderful joy. I remember Deb talking about which book she was going to read to him each week. His smile was worth more than words could say. Please give Meredith a big hug from me. I am going to bring my lily to AZ to remember.
