Keady, Thomas John

Fayetteville, NC: July 29, 2015, at age 77. Predeceased by his wife Carolyn and parents, Timothy and Christobel (Fincher) Keady. Survived by his sister Carol McFarlane (Arthur), brother Alan Keady, and sister Catherine Pollicove (Francis Antonelli), many nieces and nephews, including great nieces, great nephews and two great great nephews, many cousins and cherished friends.

Thomas was born in Batavia and grew up in Rochester, NY, attending Holy Cross School, Charlotte High School, and SUNY Brockport, graduating with a BS in education. He was a veteran of the US Coast Guard, serving in Greece, as teacher and then principal of the USS Courier International School. He became fluent in Greek, and stayed an extra year after his tour of duty at the school. Thomas became advertising manager and spent his career at FASCO, moving with the company from Rochester to Fayetteville, NC in 1967.

Thomas was a lifelong member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Fayetteville, was an avid collector, and was interested in family genealogy. I only knew him as a child, his age from about 10 and 11, (I'm 2 years younger) when our family lived 2 doors from his for a year. He, Alan and Carol played with my brother Bart and me every day for that year, good times always. I see from his obituary that he grew to be a strong, stable man and gave much to his country and his community. Blessings on Tom's life well lived.

I send my sincere condolences to all his loved ones. I just learned of this so please excuse the lateness. I am, like Tom, a Fincher grandchild. From his second cousin

I was looking on line to get the address of where my mother was buried at and I found this. Tom was the closest thing I had as a father figure. Could someone please call me. I'm Carolyn youngest daughter, Tammy.

About 70 years ago, two children moved into Miss Sharer's home on Denise Road for a year. Carol and Bart Waide played with Tom, Carol and Alan for hours every day, and Catherine Mary was born that year. So sorry to read of Tom's passing.
