To the Lednar family,
I was shocked and saddened to hear about Wayne's passing. As a medical director colleague, who I had known for many years, he was a valued colleague and genuine person. We recently shared a dinner table at the medical's director's forum meeting. My daughter had also accompanied me and met him for the first time. As was the case with everyone that he had met, he left an impression with my daughter.
I wanted to send a sympathy card also but didn't have Wayne's home address so I am sending this message in its place. Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss.

To the Lednar Family,

I have worked with Wayne over many years covering his time at Kodak and DuPont. Always highly respected by his peers, Wayne brought valued ideas and experience to discussions at medical meetings. Wayne has been an active participant in Medical Directors Forum and we just had a meeting  last month in Miami. Wayne sat next to my (college senior) daughter Julia and me at a dinner and was sharing great stories and offering job leads for her.  He always spoke about his family and was updating us on their latest  accomplishments at Michael Korrs and in Germany, etc.  Julia remembers him as a very kind person with a great sense of humor who clearly loved his work in public health. We also had fun touring Bowdoin College together with Wayne and his family when we ran into each other (Julia was a prospective applicant).

Wayne's sudden passing leaves his colleagues with great sadness. We will miss his camaraderie and the knowledge and professional insight be brought to our meetings.  We are very sorry for your loss.

Dear Sue, Allison, Bryce, and Paige:
Wayne was such a vital individual that it is stunning to contemplate the vacuum he leaves behind. I first met him at WRAIR in 1980 and he never ceased to inspire me. He was a mentor and role model who led many colleagues into fulfilling professional lives. He complemented that with his character, energy, warmth, patriotism, and the love of his family. Though I did not see him frequently in recent years, his periodic e-mails always communicated a tremendous pride in his children and their progress in life. I will miss his good humor, wisdom, generous spirit, and professional leadership. I thank God for having known and benefited from this fine gentleman. I am sad but also celebrating a well-lived life of love and service. May all of you dwell in Peace.

Dear Sue and Lednar family,
Jerry and I are so very shocked and saddened to hear of Wayne's untimely passing. He was a wonderful friend, mentor and teacher to me and the other PM residents at WRAIR. He continued his life of servant leadership as a hospital commander in the Army Reserve and with the Defense Health Board; these in addition to his many services to his community, his church and his profession. We can only dimly grasp the grief and sense of loss you must be feeling. You are in our thoughts and prayers now and will be in the future.
Sincerely,
Jim and Jerry Kirkpatrick

I am the preventive health and wellness nurse for Pioneer, a business that DuPont owns. I had many telephone conversations with Wayne and we met once in Wilmington. I am saddened by his loss. Dear Sue and family.
I am deeply saddened to hear of this sudden loss. Wayne was a great and tremendously admired colleague. I have known him for many years - initially in his role at Kodak and more recently at DuPont. We shared many conversations about our work and the challenges we were seeking to overcome for the people we served. He was bright, kind and always thoughtful. He was truly held in high esteem by me and his colleagues broadly. Although our companies may be competitors, as professional colleagues we worked with one spirit. From my role as the Chief Health officer for Dow - we were on one team. I will remember him with great respect. I wish you comfort in this most difficult times.

Dear Sue and Family-

I was much saddened to hear of Wayne's death. Wayne was a trusted Patriot and we shared much time together on behalf of the Madigan Preventive Medicine and residency program. After the Army, Wayne provided very good advice to me as I sought out a job in corporate occupational medicine. Wayne was always willing to drop everything to help out. Please accept my prayers.

I was so shocked and saddened to receive word of Wayne's passing today. I first meet him when I was a medical student at USU and did a rotation with him at WRAIR. He was an influential person in my life, setting me on the path of preventive medicine as my career in the Army. He was such a warm, caring man with great wisdom who will be missed by everyone who knew him. My heart goes out to you and your family.

Sue, Allison, Paige and Bryce,

Wayne and I have been friends since the first semester of freshman year at Fordham. He introduced me to my life long passion: HIKING. When he was in Medical school, I worked for American Airlines and would fly to Washington on weekends and we would bike to Mount Vernon and back. I recall meeting Sue on one such visit.
I actually had suggested Epidemiology to Wayne, and gave him brochures to the University of Massachusetts and UNC. I drove with him to U. Mass when he registered the first term.
In the past year we reconnected. We had dinner in Wilmington often, and I shall value those times more than I can express.
I have not met nor shall I know his equal.
