David Fay Skinner
August 16, 1934 - July 4, 2024
SCIO, OR - David Fay Skinner was born in Sauk Rapids, MN, on August 16, 1934. His parents were Walter and Grace Skinner. He passed away at home, peacefully with family nearby and is now in the presence of the Lord.
For many years the Skinner Family traveled to and from Minnesota, living in California and finally settling in Corvallis, OR.
Dave especially has fond memories of the time they lived in Lomita Park, CA. After moving to Corvallis, he worked for the Georgia Pacific plywood mill at Camp Adair. After the G-P mill closed, he worked for Boise Cascade, then for the Corvallis School District. He enjoyed custodial work and spent several years as a substitute after his retirement.
In Corvallis he attended the Berean Baptist Church, where he met and married Barbara Smith in 1962. They had two sons, Paul and Andy. Also, in 1962 his mother Grace married Victor Vose and Dave enjoyed knowing Victor's adult children as his extended family.
He enjoyed riding his ATV on the dunes and on his farm near Scio, OR.
He is survived by his wife Barbara; sons Paul (Patty) and Andy; and grandchildren Nicholas, Ashley (Tyler), Allen and Avery and great-grandson Elias. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters Lola Hoskins and Beulah Bechtel.
He was a member of Willamette Community Church.
Contributions may be made in his name to the Crisis Chaplaincy Services, Salem, OR, in care of Fisher Funeral Home.
