James "Jim" Emmett Lockman
May 13, 1938 - November 6, 2023
James "Jim" Emmett Lockman passed away unexpectedly at his home in Toledo, Oregon on Monday, November 6, 2023. He was born May 13, 1938 in Eugene, Oregon to Leo Vincent "Sundown" Lockman and Flora "Eva" (Louk) Lockman.
Jim attended various schools when he was younger as his father was a road construction supervisor which required some relocating. He graduated from Corvallis High School in Corvallis, Oregon in 1956 after playing varsity football. He then served in the U. S. Navy for four years after learning skills as a Radioman. He was Honorably Discharged in 1960 and soon hired on the paper machines at Georgia-Pacific Corp. in Toledo. He married Charlene M. Ross on April 8, 1961 at All Nations Lutheran Church in Newport, Oregon and were married 62 years. Jim was an active Local Union #13 member for many years. He worked various positions ending up as a Supervisor when he retired after 39 years at G-P. Jim was very active socially and was a long-time member of the Toledo Elks Lodge, B.P.O.E. # 1664 and relaxed often there with many good friends. When it came to sports or outdoor activities, he had varied interests, some of which were several types of hunting, splitting wood, fishing, crabbing, motorcycle riding, golfing (awarded a "hole-in-one" certificate), and also coached Little League Sports for several years. Our family spent a lot of time in the summer at our place at Three-Rivers Recreation Area on Lake Billy Chinook. There, Jim spent a lot of time boating and riding quads with family and friends. His long-time favorite thing has always been football and he and family went to Beaver games in Hawaii and Arizona. He rarely missed a game on T.V.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and "Eva" Lockman.
Jim is survived by his wife, Charlene; son Monte V. Lockman; daughter, April M. (Arne) Ferguson; grandsons, Logan J-R Ferguson; Brooks Arne Ferguson; sister, Jackie (Ken) Archibald, and many extended family members and friends.
There will be no services at Jim's request.
