Douglas Amyx Obituary
Born March 23, 1938, in Sanger, TX, he was a son of the late Frank and Lois Sullivan Amyx. He was a graduate of Sanger High School and Cook County Jr. College in Gainesville, TX, and attended the University of Texas at Arlington. Doug retired from Moore Business Forms in Greenwood as the Human Resources Manager. He was previously at the Denton, TX, plant.
A member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church in Greenwood, South Carolina, he was also a member and past Worshipful Master of Greenwood Masonic Lodge #91. He was very active with the SC Masonic Grand Lodge and many other Masonic organizations, having served as Past District Deputy of the SC Grand Lodge for the Eleventh District. Brother Doug was a Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star and a Past Royal Patron of the Order of the Amaranth. He was a 33rd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite Temple and was a member of the York Rite Bodies. Right Worshipful Doug was active in nearly every aspect of SC Masonry as well as the Hejaz Shrine Temple, and the Laurens County Shrine Club.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Dedra Arelene Hart (Daniel) of Hartsville, SC, Desiree Denise Lynn Amyx Macintosh of Hood River, OR, Denee Frances Amyx Hayes (Eric) of McMurray, PA; three sons, Douglas Kelvin Amyx (Sandi) of Greenwood, SC, Darrett Lyle Amyx of Atlanta, and Devlin Lief Amyx (Rome)of Greenwood, SC; nine grandchildren, Sullivan Mackintosh, Chelsea Friddle (Kyle), Devyn Amyx, Creighton Laine Amyx, Devlin Lief Amyx, Jr. "DJ", Davis Mackintosh, Elliott Hayes, Adelle Hayes, and Vivian Hayes; four great-grandchildren, Layne, Kypten, Ryvers, and Keighton.
Visitation for Doug is set from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Coker Funeral Home in Sanger. A Scottish Rite service honoring Doug's life will immediately follow in the Pavilion of the Sanger Cemetery.
