Steven Lamonica Obituary

Steven D. Lamonica

Steven D. Lamonica, age 32, passed away 7 April 2018 and is now serving in heaven with his fellow warriors.

Mr. Lamonica is survived by his wife, Sara, and father David, mother Debbie and in-laws. He also leaves behind two brothers, Matthew and Matt, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He leaves behind his beautiful wife, Sara Harrison Lamonica. Steven and Sara were lifelong friends and married on 4 August 2014. After conquering life's trials and tribulations, Steven and Sara forged a temple of love and trust that will remain. Recently, they moved to Midland, Texas where they both flourished in their respective careers. Sara was instrumental in teaching Steven empathy and how to enjoy life. In return, Steven taught Sara patience and how to love deeply.

CM2 Lamonica is a veteran of the War on Terrorism serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan), where he earned several medals, awards, and citations. He earned the Navy Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NATO service award, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (Three Awards), Navy and Marine Overseas Service Ribbon, and various other awards and decorations. After six years of service, the Navy honorably discharged him with full honors.

He grew up in Krum, Texas and is the youngest son of David and Debbie Lamonica. As a child, he learned a sense of humor from his father. His mother instilled in him the importance of a love for the Lord. From a young age, Steven had a love for animals, music, and his country.

Services will be held this Sunday, April 22nd at 3 P.M. at DeBerry Funeral Home at 2125 University Drive, Denton, Texas, 76201.

I'm so sorry for the loss of such a young person. I didn't have the pleasure of knowing him personally. I do know his wife Sara and I am so sorry for the pain you and his family have endured. I pray for peace and comfort for each of you and may God wrap his arms around you all at this difficult time. Love you Sara and I'm always here for you if you ever need anything at all.

Sara and family, my heart goes out to you during this difficult time. No words can properly comfort those closest to Steve. A lot of people are not local, including me. I'm thinking of you all and praying.

Steve was one of the first guys in the shop at my first command to show me genuine kindness. And from that day forward he was an easy friend, great amounts of sarcasm have been shared through the years, too many laughs to count and I'm sure a few tears along the way. He was family to me. He won't be forgotten.
