Alice D. Rainey

RAINEY, ALICE D. Homemaker, 83 Alice D. Rainey, beloved wife of Norton M. Rainey, cattleman, horseman and rancher who preceded her in death in 1995. Mrs. Rainey was born on April 23, 1919 in El Paso, TX. She passed away on July 11, 2002 in Denver. Mrs. Rainey earned her B.S. degree in 1941 from the University of Houston. She was the founder of PI Delta Sorority, which became Alpha Chi Omega, at the University of Houston. She was a recipient of a 50 year pin, and a lifetime member of the National Parent Teacher Assn. Mrs. Rainey was a Communicant of St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Hempstead, TX where she served in numerous capacities, Hempstead Garden Club, Hempstead Community Outreach, and donor to many charities and causes for which she received many awards and certificates of appreciation. Mrs. Rainey was currently attending the Abundant Grace Fellowship Church in Denver. She is survived by sons Norton M. Rainey, Jr. of Centennial, David J. Rainey of Hempstead, TX; daughter Jerry Ann Putt of West Hartford, CT; sisters Florence Livingston of Houston, TX, Betty Lou Guenveur of South Pasadena, CA; brother S.D. David of New Braunfels, TX; granddaughters Chantal Rainey of Washington, DC, Jessica and Kristina Rainey of Hempstead, TX; grandsons David A. Putt of Hartford, CT, Norton M. Rainey, Jr. of Denver; great-granddaughter Kendall Weiniecki of Washington, DC; beloved son and daughter in laws; much loved nieces and nephews. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2002 at Abundant Grace Fellowship Church, 4535 Wadsworth Blvd., Wheat Ridge. Memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2002 at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Hempstead, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations to: Porter Place, 1001 E.
