Barbara Schaefer Obituary

Schaefer, Barbara Wilson
January 2, 1950 - September 20, 2023

Barbara, 73, of Denver, passed peacefully after battling cancer and ALS.

Barb was a genuinely kind, loving, and warm soul. She had many friends over her lifetime but made you feel like you were the most important. She inherited her sense of humor from her father and selfless spirit from her mother.

Barb was the cornerstone of her family; a loving wife, and the best mother to her three daughters and their husbands. Known as Grandma Bee, her life was enriched beyond measure by her four young grandchildren.

Barb enjoyed sewing, gardening, collecting tea cups, walking around Wash Park, and meeting friends for lunch. She retired after a 40-year career as a Dental Hygienist. Barb developed a love for daily yoga and bar method classes where her positive energy was contagious.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Ruth Wilson.

She is survived by her husband, Elwyn Schafer. Daughters Jill DuPre and her husband, Blair. Jessi Trujillo Hubbard, her husband Brian, and children Greyson and Hayden. Kelly Koch, her husband Jason, and children Bates and Taylor.

Siblings Don (Diana) Wilson, Dennis (Lu) Wilson, Steve (Pat) Wilson, Joni (Ed) Clark, and Cindi (Tom) Osborne. Dear friend and healer Janet Fuenmayor, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Barb was a bright and energetic light and touched many lives. Her love, hugs, and smile will be deeply missed. Share your memories of Barb at LoveForBarb.com.

Instead of flowers (though she did love flowers), contributions can be made at LoveForBarb.com and then will be given to charities dedicated to ALS research and a memorial for Barb to be determined at a later date.

A private service will be held in celebration of Barb's life. Please celebrate her in a way that brings you joy.
