He graduated from the University of Colorado in 1986, where he was a member of Sigma Chi. He attained a law degree from the University of Denver and entered into the practice of law in 1990, as a litigator specializing in criminal defense. In recent years he was a partner in Martin and Martin P.C., with his father E. Gregory Martin. Brent enjoyed outdoor sports, especially ski-mountaineering and downhill skiing in the Rockies. He also liked surfing, hiking and climbing. He was a long-time member of the Denver Club, where he served on the Board of Directors and was an avid squash player. He met his future wife, Jennifer Cooper, while standing in line the first day of school to register for classes as freshmen at CU Boulder! Jennifer and Brent were married March 17, 1990 in Pasadena, California, where her parents resided. They established their first home in Denver, moving to Castle Pines Village in August 2005. Brent is survived by his wife, Jennifer and daughters, Catie, 16, and Madeline, 12, and son, Charlie, 10; also by his parents, Greg and Betty Martin, who still live in Boulder, and by his older brothers, Michael and Scot, and younger sister, Susan, all Denver area residents. I met Brent in Florida at a conference in October, we were roomates for 30 days and I was wheelchair bound. This man with a heart of gold made sure I never missed a meeting and regardless of the struggle in yanking me around as he always did. With our nightly conversations, I grew to know a personal side of him who loved and was so proud of his family. I can honestly say if I can meet a man of his calibur once in a life time and If I miss him now with honest tears in my eyes, I hope only you can overcome that grief and tears as well . GOD Bless you and watch, over your family.

Thank you for letting me know him, or his crazy colored sneakers.....I don't know you, but love you all.

The thing I will remember most about Brent was his effortless ability to make people smile. I am proud to have known him. He was intelligent, funny, and, above all, a down-to-earth, decent person. Brent had a presence to him that, when you were around him, made it almost impossible to be in a bad mood. I will miss him dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. We have lost a truly amazing person.

Brent was one of my roommates during my second year in law school. Brent was funny, smart, and tackled everything -- work or play -- with boundless enthusiasm. He was quick on his feet and though I never worked with him, I have no doubt that he was a formidable trial lawyer. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Brent's family and especially to Jen. Rest in Peace. Tom
