Celia Terry Obituary

Celia May Terry, 94, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016 in Franklin, TN. She was born August 22, 1921 in Golden, CO of parents Sylvester Lewis Byers and Gladys Viola Dickson. She married David Lowell Terry, November 20, 1948 in Denver, CO. Celia was raised by her grandparents Frank Lewis Byers and Agnes Mrstik on a small family chicken farm just outside of Golden, CO. She went to school in Golden and after high school worked various jobs in Denver including the movie theater, where she met many of the big stars of the day. She also worked various jobs with Dentists, Doctors and Lawyers as their assistants, technicians and bookkeepers. After the war she met her beloved husband David. They were married for 57 years until he passed away in 2006. Celia was very instrumental in starting up and running the family life insurance business with her husband. She enjoyed working with people and making sure all was done correctly and that it was successful enough to provide for them a wonderful and long retirement. During retirement, she loved to travel the United States and the world studying and marveling how all the others around the world lived. She always said how wonderful it was but there was no better place than the United States and being at home. She will be remembered as the peaceful one, the one who was always friendly and the one with the dry sense of humor who made them smile and laugh. She loved to laugh, which she said was her success to a long and happy life. She is survived by son, David Lowell Terry Jr. (Dianne); grandchildren, David Joshua (Melissa) of N. Richland Hills, TX, Jesse Jon of Bali, Indonesia, Jarred Ray of Laguna Beach, CA, Stephen Michael Parvin (Kori) of Durango, CO, James Andrew Parvin of Durango, CO; great grandchildren, Ava Diane, Audrey Rae and Addison Renee of N. Richland Hills, TX. She is preceded in death by her grandparents; parents; siblings, Viviette Clute, Agnes Teter, Carolyn Derry and Frank Byers. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Spilsbury Mortuary Chapel, 110 S. Bluff, St. George, UT. There will be visitation Friday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Mortuary. Interment will take place in the Tonaquint Cemetery. Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 435-673-2454. Friends and family are invited to sign her guestbook at www.spilsburymortuary.com.
