Claudia relinquished her magnificent life of 81 years on Oct. 9.
Claudia enjoyed an illustrious career as a ski and travel journalist. But her greatest work was raising five children: Susan, David, Michael, Kathleen and Nicholas.
In addition to her children, she is survived by 7 grandchildren: Amanda, Madilynn, John Dylan (JD), Anthony, Avery, Isabella and Leona.
Claudia is also survived by her loving partner, Larry Haack, and brother William Carbone.
A Denver native, Claudia worked as a freelance travel writer, restaurant and performing arts reviewer and blogger that brought her to places around the globe and her writing has been seen in national newspapers and magazines. Claudia published the groundbreaking book, "WomenSki," in 1994.
She was immensely proud of her Italian heritage. With her three sons and grandson JD, they revitalized Carbone Wine by founding Dune Valley Distillery in Mosca, CO.
Claudia's celebration of life will be Nov. 30 at Wellshire Event Center, 3333 S. Colorado Blvd., Denver, from 4 to 7 p.m.

I just learned today that Claudia died last month. Please accept my condolences. Claudia and I are second cousins, which we only learned earlier this year via 23andme. My grandmother, Josephine Goduti, née Giuseppina Carbone, and her grandfather, Anthony, were siblings. Claudia and I shared some family information via email. My wife and I had dinner in Boston with my mother, her father, John, and her aunt Caroline in the 1970´s. Claudia was a very accomplished person; I´m sorry that I didn´t have the opportunity to meet her in person. May she rest in peace.

Mike- I´m so sorry for the loss of your Mom. She was clearly ahead of her time and paved the way for women like me and my daughter to be recognized as athletes and as writers! What a brave woman- and she loved you- of all of her accomplishments she raised a great man and I think that´s the most amazing gift of her life. Blessings, friend as you grieve.
