Edna Chang-Grant Obituary

resident of Littleton, Colorado, died at the age of 66. Predeceased by her husband, Charles Hendrie Grant in 2001 and her parents Hugh Hou Chun and Elsie Lan Chuen Chang in 2008. She is survived by her two daughters Taylor Chang-Jiang and Rory Chang-Heung Grant, and her sister Ethel Cheng-Hsin Chang from California. Born in New York, she grew up in Oakland, California and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Textile Design in 1969. In 1970, she moved to Colorado and married Charles Grant a few years later. She worked in Computer Programming /Management for United Airlines/ Covia/ Galileo for 32 years, retiring in 2002. She championed woman's rights and successfully won a discrimination lawsuit against United Airlines. Edna spent her retirement designing and beading figure skating competition dresses, competing in ballroom dance, traveling the globe, and volunteering in the community. She generously gave her time as a past President and Board member for the Beacon Center; she was the 2007 Chairperson for Cherish the Children Gala; a Board Member of the Rocky Mountain Youth Clinics; Member of Denver Center Alliance; Co-Chair 2007 Central City Opera's L'Esprit de Noel; Board Member for the Four Mile Historic Park; Chair of Parents Committee for the US Figure Skating Association; Chair of the Kent Denver Alumni Art Show; Member of the Le Bal de Ballet Committee of the Denver Ballet Guild. Edna was known for living life to the fullest, bringing an incredible style and enthusiasm to whatever venture she pursued, be it raising her family, her career, volunteering, shopping, dining or socializing with friends. Her vibrant personality will be missed. A private Celebration of Life was held at her home on April 5, 2014.
