TANNER, Gordon W., MD, "Doc" Our beloved father, Gordon Worth "Doc" Tanner, MD, age 94, passed away on Oct. 5, 2009. Survived by his daughter, Barbara (Scott) Hightower, son Paul (Lynn) Tanner; five grandchildren Jeff (Kim) Hightower, Tracey (Robin) Viburg, Gigi (Steve) Greenlee, Kerry Tanner and Alex (Laura) Tanner; eight great grandsons and one great granddaughter. Doc was born in Denver on Oct. 24, 1914. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Denver and belonged to the Sigma Alpha fraternity. After earning his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine, he joined the Navy and WWII and served in the Pacific as a ship doctor. After the war, he established a private practice in Wheat Ridge, CO. He was one of the original seven physicians on staff at Lutheran Hospital. He also practiced medicine in Evergreen before his retirement. Doc liked to build things with his hands, fish and travel. He especially enjoyed our beautiful Rocky Mountains. He loved being with his family, was loved and respected by his many patients and friends, and was greatly loved by his family.
