Jack Hook Obituary

Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) J.G Hook died at the age of 89 surrounded by his immediate family and close church friends. Jack went to be with the Lord on August 26, 2014 in Denver, Colorado after experiencing complications of a broken hip caused by a fall at his athletic club. Lt. Colonel Hook was born December 11, 1924 in Denver, CO. Jack was a native through and through, receiving his Bachelors and Master's degrees in Education at the University of Denver. A true service man, Jack, flew as a Bombardier with the 15th Air Force aboard B-17 Flying Fortresses. He served in Italy on active duty from 1945 to 1946, at which he transitioned into Air Force Reserve until he retired in 1971. Jack was a distinguished educator in the Denver Public School system for 40 years. His motto was, "ready to serve" and serve he did. He served as a High School Basketball Timer, a Track and Field Official, Tennis Tournament Director and a timer for State Wresting, Cross Country and Swimming for over 55 years. Jack was incredibly active in the ministries at his church and was known to brighten every room with his laughter and willingness to help. Jack will be remembered by his strong faith, kind heart, family values and wonderful sense of humor. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Hook, daughter Nancy Gregorio, son Jay Hook, and four grandchildren, Jonathon Hook, Elizabeth Hook, Jori Gregorio and Jared Gregorio. A service will be held in memory of his life on Saturday, August 30, 2 p.m. at Galilee Baptist Church, 1091 S. Parker Rd. Denver, CO 80231. Donations in his honor can be made to Galilee Missions Fund.

Dan and I will really miss our alley conversations with Jack. We are so sorry we did not make it to his service. The alley will never be the same and I will miss him! He always made me laugh!

I was honored to care for Jack and even though he left our unit my thoughts had been with him and his wonderful family who were by his side fighting this with him. My prayers go out to you all.

Jack was a great guy. We had many short talks about Italy in 1945. He being in the Air Force and I was in the 10th Mtn. Div., when we were students at Denver Univ.
Not to forget Jack's father who was also a great guy. All 3 of us were with the Denver Public Schools.
Wonderful family.

Whenever I called Marj about a golf game, I was pleased when Jack answered the phone. What a fun person and such a quick wit. He left me laughing so many times. What a loss for this dear family, but Jack is with his Lord. Beverlee Henry
