Ronald Hook Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Myers-Baker Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. on Feb. 5, 2026.
Ronald G. Hook, 83, of Mechanicsburg, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 2, 2026.

Ronald proudly served the United States for more than 34 years, giving honorable and dedicated service to the United States Navy and the federal government. A true patriot, he lived his life with deep respect for his country, a passion for history and politics, and an unwavering commitment to duty.

Ronald was known for his great sense of humor and warm personality. He loved to cook and took special joy in preparing meals for his family and friends, bringing people together around the table. His home was always filled with laughter, conversation, and the comfort of good food shared with those he loved.

He is survived by his loving wife, Catharine (Gill) Hook who he was married to sixty years; his daughters Stephanie Hook, and her children Maddie de Garay, Lukas de Garay, and Gabe de Garay; and Megan Hook, and her son Jameson Dittman-Hook.

Ronald and Catharine also lovingly raised their granddaughter, Zoe Hook, who was like a daughter to them. Zoe is engaged to Fred Speaker, and they are joyfully awaiting the birth of their daughter, Catharine Speaker. She also has a son Eli Smith.

Ronald was preceded in death by his son, Brandon Hook, who passed away in 2019. Brandon's memory lives on through his children, Ozzie Hook and Bodhi Hook.

He is also survived by his sisters, Sharon Bathurst and Ginny Alterio.

In addition to his son Brandon, Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Gorden Hook and Doris (Palmer) Hook, and his siblings June Countryman, Joanne Boscaino, Janice Hampton, Lynn Hook, and Lorraine Clouser.

Above all, Ronald was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and family man. His life was defined by service, to his country, the United States Navy, and the family he loved so deeply. His legacy of patriotism, humor, and love will be remembered always.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Myers-Baker Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 1903 Market Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
