Michael J. Miller

Michael J. Miller, 76, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on December 23, 1949, in Harrisburg, PA, Michael was the son of the late Russell and Doris (Thorn) Miller. He was a 1968 graduate of John Harris High School and continued his education at Harrisburg Area Community College and Thompson Institute.

Michael proudly served his country as a U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded two Bronze Stars and a Silver Star for his service. Following his time in Vietnam, he continued to serve in the National Guard. After his military career, Michael worked at the Naval Support Systems Command (NAVSUP) Headquarter, in Mechanicsburg, PA, from which he later retired.

A man of faith, Michael was a member of Pine Street Presbyterian Church, where he served as both a Deacon and a member of the Church Session. He found joy in fellowship and service.

Michael had a lifelong love of fishing and was a proud member and past president of the Whistle Pig Fishing Club, the oldest fishing club in North America. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW. Known for his warmth, sense of adventure, and easygoing spirit, Michael embraced life fully and formed lasting friendships wherever he went.

Above all else, Michael was a devoted family man. His greatest happiness came from time spent with his loved ones, creating memories filled with laughter, love, and togetherness.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Maronetta (Ferris) Miller of Mechanicsburg, PA; his son, Mark Miller and his wife Brooke of Carlisle, PA; his cherished grandson, Blake Miller; numerous extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

A celebration of Michael's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Pine Street Presbyterian Church, 310 North Third Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101, with Rev. Stuart Seelman officiating. A visitation with Michael's family will take place at the Church from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Parking is available at the South Street Garage. Parking will be validated, please be sure to know your license plate number.

Please join the family following the service as we continue to celebrate Michael's life through stories and the joy he brought to so many. Light food and beverages will be served at Sophia's at Walden, 129 Walden Way, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.

Interment with full military honors will be held at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA.
