James Cartwright Obituary

CARTWRIGHT, JAMES S. "JIM"
James S. "Jim" Cartwright, 73, of Frederick, CO, died at Longmont United Hospital on April 14, 2005. Jim was born on April 3, 1932 in Broadhead, Colorado to Samuel and Erminda (Paiz) Cartwright. The family moved to Lafayette where Jim attended school, and graduated from Lafayette High School. He attended the University of Colorado and served in the United States Marine Corps at the end of the Korean War.
In 1953, Jim married Betty Corian. They had 3 children and lived in Westminster. Betty died in 1965. Jim married Patricia Stones in 1981 and moved to Frederick. He retired as Vice President of Sales for Gates Forming Accessories, Inc in 1986 after 30 years of service.
Jim is survived by his wife; a son, Stephen Cartwright and his wife Patty of Littleton; two daughters, Karen Ballard of Littleton and Elaine Schmetterer of San Francisco, CA; two step daughters, Cynthia Compton of Phoenix, AZ and Connie Nordberg of Frederick; 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Jim's parents, first wife, and two step daughters, Carolyn Fiske and Cathy Burshten, preceded him in death.
Jim was a devoted family man and enjoyed being with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting and fly-fishing.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Frederick on Monday, April 18 at 10:00 a.m. Father Robert Whipkey will officiate. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Howe Mortuary, and inurnment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Wheat Ridge at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, Denver Metro Market or St. Theresa Catholic Church Memorial Fund.

Jim was friend of my Dad's for many years. They worked together at Gates for several years before my Dad went on to his own forming business. My Mom and Dad always spoke fondly of him. His family has our sympathy and our prayers. Glen Gates
