I was privileged to get to learn gymnastics under Jim Hartman's coaching at Lincoln High School from 1967 to 1969. He was a master at the craft of getting the most effort from each athlete and he did it with his gentle and loving way. A great coach and an even greater man and friend. Rest in Peace Coach. God bless your family.

Coach Hartman, you taught me much during my school years. (ALHS) Your lessons I've remembered all my life. Perhaps the most important, which you embodied, was to laugh and smile often. You will be missed. Rest well Coach.

Coach Hartman was always a favorite. His swimming class was fun and helpful. He truly was a most wonderful man and I know I am better off because he was my teacher. My prayers to his family.

Coach Hartman lived a full life which was richly deserved. He was the one teacher at ALHS whom everybody, athlete or not, just loved. His ever-present smile was infectious, and he was a great mentor. We are all blessed and better served just having known him. My prayers for peace are with his family.

Thinking of Jimmy warms my heart. In all the years of knowing him I don't think I ever saw him without a smile on his face. He was a good man who made this world a better place. My thoughts and prayers are with his family as you say good-bye to a wonderful man.
Sincerely,
Sheryl (Hadley) Healy
