Jane Middlebrook Obituary

Middlebrook, Jane Machia
1922 ~ 2012
Long-time resident of Englewood, CO, died Wednesday, April 25 in Helena, MT after suffering a stroke. Born October 26, 1922 in Akron, OH to Elizabeth McCune and Lester LeClaire Machia, she worked as a bacteriologist with René Dubos at The Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research in NY. There she met Gardner Middlebrook, M.D. They were married and moved to the Denver area in 1951. They had four children, all of whom survive.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Cathedral and also volunteered at the Botanic Gardens. She was an avid reader and conservationist. A charitable donation or volunteering is suggested in lieu of flowers as a memorial.

We cherish our memories of Jane, who gave a lot of love and spirit to everyone who came into her life. She loved science and history, which live on through her children. Jane also devoted many hours to volunteer work and contributed to several charities. She will be greatly missed.
