Judith Werzyn Obituary

The Lord called Judy home on April 18, 2018. Judy was born July 23, 1949, in Prairie du Chein, Wisconsin to Carroll and Delores Klinkhammer. Judy grew up in the small farming village of Bloomington, Wisconsin. After graduating from Bloomington High, she attended the University of Wisconsin at Platteville and graduated from St. Louis University with a BS in Nursing in 1972. Judy met the love of her life, Mike, in Orlando, FL in 1976 at the same apartment complex when she parked her classy white 1974 MGB convertible next to Mike's VW beetle. Judy and Mike married on May 24, 1980 in Denver, CO, the same day she received her MS in Nursing from the University of Colorado. During her career, Judy worked in hospitals in St. Louis, Tampa, Orlando, and the Denver area. She was a nursing instructor at Arapahoe Community College in Littleton, CO for 21 years. Her specialty was obstetrics. She loved helping babies into the world and passing her knowledge on to her students. After retiring from teaching she became a licensed estitician as a second career. Judy had a positive, fun loving attitude and made friends easily wherever she went. Her smiling face, humor, and quick wit drew people to her. She loved to travel and enjoyed hiking, biking and snowshoeing. Judy was an avid reader and loved games especially mah jongg. She seldom missed the neighborhood ladies' book club or weekly mah jongg games. A year would not be complete without Judy and her friends planning their annual girls getaway to the mountains which affectionately became known as Babes in the Woods. Judy loved her two Pomeranians, Tazzy and Stella. Judy leaves the world a better place and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In addition to Mike, Judy is survived by one sister, Mary (Jeff) Robbins of Lancaster WI, and three brothers - Roger (Julie) Klinkhammer of Fairfield MT, Dan (Karla) Klinkhammer of Ham Lake, MN, and Jim (Candace) Klinkhammer of Monticello WI and beloved nieces and nephews. Preceding Judy in death were her parents and brother, Ted. A memorial service will be held at Viegut Funeral Home in Loveland, CO on Friday, May 4th 2018 at 11:00am with a reception following at the Viegut Reception Center. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Pathways Hospice, UC Health Cancer Center - Harmony campus, and Larimer County Humane Society. I was a nursing student of Judy's at Arapahoe Community College. I have since moved to Arizona and I thought I would look her up to tell her thank you for all that she did to help me in nursing school and what a great preceptor she was. I am so sad to hear that she passed away. Judy you are loved and appreciated and will be missed.

I am an "old" nurse friend of Judy's from Rose. I am so sad to learn of her early death and only hope it was a gentle peaceful death as she comforted so many others. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Just was the reason I spent 27 years in nursing education. She was my first mentor. Over the years I tried to teach just like her. She will be missed. Geri Rsh.
