Thomas Kevin McNicholas (Kevin), also known to many as KM, died on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 in Denver. He was 83 years old. He is survived by his wife, Mary, his three children: Sean, Brendan and Shannon, and his six grandchildren. There are a million stories about Kevin: his perfectionist ways, his passion for people, his belief in win-win, his life advice, his pat on the back, his compassion for those in need, and his catchy sayings like "big hat no cattle." He loved betting on the underdog and lived to take care of people. His legacy will continue on in the thousands of lives touched by his big heart. To the McNicholas family.
I'm sorry that my condolences are so late, but I was recovering from very serious surgery when Kevin unfortunately passed away.
As the majority owner of The Wellshire Event Center at 3333 South Colorado Blvd, not far from the McNicholas family home, I had the good fortune of speaking to Kevin on numerous occasions. He and I were very close in age, as well in our concern for those in society who needed help.
Because Kevin never sought the spotlight for any of his numerous good works, only those that were fortunate to know him ever knew how important and generous he was to those less fortunate than him.
During my 45+ years of being on the Kempe Children's Foundation Board, Kevin was always someone who would not only give his money, but on many occasions offered his home as a gathering place to raise money and/or awareness of the plight of far too many children worldwide.
Kevin was a giant among men, yet had not an ounce of pretentious behavior.
While he often mentioned to me how he hoped that his children would take over running the "family business", no one will ever replace him in the community!
