Lela Faudel Obituary

Lela passed away quietly, early on the morning of February 11, 2014 after leading a full and active life. Lela was born in Arapahoe, Nebraska on September 9, 1916 to parents Edgar Andrew and Minnie Mable Curry. She earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska and later married Harlow August John Faudel after his return from serving with the Army Air Corp in the Pacific during World War II. Lela is survived by her sister Eleanor Ruth Curry Morrison, her two children, Judith L. Faudel and Gerald B. Faudel (Christina), four grandsons Nathaniel Charles, Michael Philip, James Andrew and William Harlow and one great-grandson, Alexander Drake Faudel. Lela and Harlow moved from Nebraska to Denver in 1952 where Lela was an educator, teaching children in the Denver Public School system, and a fine artist, sculpting and working in oils, pastels and watercolors. She was a member of the Arvada Artists Guild and the Palette Ladies Painters Group. She enjoyed square dancing and bowling with her husband Harlow earlier in her life. Lela made friends easily and was known for her lively sense of humor which she kept until her passing. Lela was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Harlow Faudel, and her parents Edgar and Minnie Curry. Lela will be greatly missed by her loving family, friends and neighbors. Lela's long and exceptional life will be celebrated by friends and family at her visitation at 11:00 followed by her funeral service at 12:00 on Saturday, February 15th at Crown Hill Pavilion Chapel, 29th & Wadsworth, Wheat Ridge, CO where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Harlow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Peace Lutheran Church, 5675 Field Street, Arvada, CO 80002.
