Marlene Marvel Obituary

Marvel, Marlene
03/02/2021

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Marlene Joan Marvel; Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, friend and lover of laughter. Marlene joined her beloved husband James Curtis Marvel, Sr. on March 2nd, 2021 at the glorious age of nearly 91. While Marlene was not directly affected by COVID-19, the isolation and loneliness from not being able to be her vibrant self was most definitely her cause of death. She left us with her family by her side and in the gentle care of her two sons, and loving dear friend, caregiver our "Saint" Tina Risch who eased her transition to Heaven.
Marlene Marvel lived her life giving her heart to everyone she met. She was a loyal wife, loving mother and generous friend. Her infectious laughter, vigor for adventure and love for her family will be cherished and forever missed.
Marlene was a Colorado native, born March 27th, 1930 and was preceded in death by her Father Fredrick and Mother Carrie Geneva Newcomm. Marlene had numerous brothers and sisters, all who preceded her in death. Marlene was married for 40 years to the late James Curtis Marvel, Sr.
Marlene is survived by her sons, James Curtis Marvel, Jr. (Curt) and Fredrick James Marvel (Fred) ; Curt's wife Cindy Lou and their four boys; James Curtis, III, wife Rebecca and daughter Afton; Christopher James, wife Brandy, sons Christopher, Jr.(9), Beau (4) and daughter Harper(6); Jordan Curtis, wife Brenna, daughter Penelope (4) and son Finn (2); Corey James, wife Catherine and son Cooper (4) and their baby expected in early May.
Fred's wife Dara and his children; Daughter Kaitlyn Elizabeth Taylor, husband Omar and their daughter Vivienne (5) and son Harrison Fredrick Garry (2); sons Brendan Fredrick, wife Erin; Connor James; and John Patrick, (Jack), girlfriend Alex Nillen, and Walter.
After 30 years apart, it gives us comfort to think of you and Dad together again. We love you and will miss you endlessly; Mom, Gma, Trixie, Mar Mar, and beloved Marlene.

WOW, can't believe three years, this extraordinary lady has passed. Still, and always will remember this classy lady. The way she dressed, the way she kept her hair, she surely didn't look her age. And surely didn't act it at times, especially on the dance floor! I loved to see her out on the floor dancing away with that big smile on her face, laughing out load! Auntie, you are still being missed AND always will be! Love you "Auntie Marvel!"

Memories of a wonderful woman. My aunt, Auntie Marlene. Her smile, the stories, her out on the dance floor, those are just some of the things that would always make us smile. I know you're up there, two stepping, and twisting away with Uncle Curt. "Cut a rug" as they say Auntie, you have been missed, love you forever!

Marlene and I met at the Lakewood Elks many years ago. We were good friends. She was a great volunteer, Treasurer and Inner guard. We used to meet up for lunches and dinners. She had lovely dinners at her home. I sure miss her. May you rest in peace Marlene.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Marlene was a member of Edgewater United Methodist Church for many, many years & a generous contributor to our many projects even after she became homebound. Marlene was one of those people that could uplift everyone. What a loss to the world. She had such a wonderful family, too! You'll be missed by many
