Alicia Marvel (Dunson)
Obituary
Alicia Claudette Marvel (Dunson) was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on December 25, 1969.
April 16, 2023, at 11:11 marked the moment she was baptized in the Holy Spirit at Compassion
Christian Church, Savannah, Georgia, a life changing milestone in her spiritual journey. On
November 1st, her soul unexpectedly entered eternal rest, lovingly guided by the heavenly
Father's Holy Spirit. She resided most recently with her husband in
Blountsville, Alabama,
closing a chapter marked by strength, resilience, and love in all circumstances.
Growing up primarily in Atlanta, Alicia also experienced portions of her childhood with
her brothers, sisters, and step siblings with whom she had a loving relationship in Florida and
Alabama. In high school, Alicia joined ROTC as a cadet, earning a marksmanship badge as a
sharpshooter. She graduated at the top of her class at Georgia Medical Institute, where she
studied phlebotomy and completed her training in 1991. She had a deep interest in forensics
science along with anatomy and physiology, and her passion was to give the best standard of
care to people around her. Around this time, she became a devoted mother to three children,
whom she regarded as her greatest accomplishments in her life. She worked tirelessly to provide
for them, creating a life filled with love and opportunity-something she had longed for in her
own childhood, always putting them first. To her children, she was a fortress of protection and
constant with her love, nurturing a bond that can never be broken.
Finding comfort in books, there was a particular fondness for classic favorites like The Lord of
the Rings trilogy, City of Angels, The Garden of Good and Evil, and various fantasy romance
novels. Gardening was a source of peace and therapy, with a flourishing collection of vegetables
and houseplants nurtured with care. Her beloved horse, Fancy, was a prized companion,
embodying her wild, adventurous spirit and deep love for nature. Camping with family and being
beside the ocean, were cherished escapes where she felt most at home. Traveling often to visit
family, she enjoyed road trips filled with the music she loved, from Elvis and Fleetwood Mac to
Martina McBride. A newfound cherished hobby of sewing brought her closer to her sister Tosha,
crafting gifts and keepsakes stitched with love for their children and grandchildren amidst
moments filled with laughter and joy. She cherished every moment spent with her children and
grandchildren. Family meant the world to her, and she would go to the ends of the earth for those
she loved. Her love for family truly knew no bounds. She held her parents close to her heart,
delighted by the time spent with her father. Holidays were always special every year, crafted
with love and joy with cherished memories.
Alicia's marriage to Russel Christopher Marvel was a testament to her enduring heart.
Their paths parted and crossed again over the years, and through it all, she offered grace,
forgiveness, and generosity - loving with a depth rooted in compassion and hope. She
continued to carry love and care for him through every season they experienced. Their path was
not without challenges, yet she met each chapter with strength, compassion, and a love that never
faded.
Alicia touched the lives of everyone she crossed paths with her kindness, leaving warmth
and love wherever she went. Her spirit lives on through her children and grandchildren, who will
keep her memory alive in their hearts and homes for years to come.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages honoring Alicia's life through acts of love,
kindness, and compassion.
"A devoted mother, wife, daughter, loving friend, and cherished soul, forever in our
hearts."
