Barry Curtis Marvel Sr. passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 18, 1947, Barry lived a full and beautiful life built on kindness, laughter, and love.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army and carried that same quiet strength and integrity throughout his life.
In July 1976, Barry married the love of his life - his sweetheart and best friend. Together they shared 49 wonderful years, a love story that everyone around them admired. They were truly the cutest pair, and their relationship was one many could only hope to have.
Barry was a man without a mean bone in his body - gentle, compassionate, and always ready to lend a hand. He adored his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren beyond measure. His family and friends knew they could count on him for anything - a listening ear, a good laugh, or enjoying one of his famously perfect cups of coffee.
He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, cooking, and, of course, eating. He also loved playing games, especially cribbage, Yahtzee, and chess where his friendly competitiveness always shined through. Whether he was out by the water, gathered around the table with family, or enjoying a game with friends, Barry found joy in life's simple pleasures.
Barry leaves behind his devoted wife of 49 years, Brenda E. Marvel, his children; Sandra Horton and husband David, Kimberly Marvel-Robinson, Barry Marvel Jr. and wife Ashley, James Tradd and Lura-Beth Bombard and husband Christopher, his adored grandchildren; Ashley, Megan, Mark, Barry III, Reese, Zachary, Joshua, and Ryan, his cherished great-grandchildren; Mia, Madison, Ariella and Parker, along with his siblings; Richard "Richie" Marvel and wife Rose and Sandra Petersen and husband Billy. Barry is predeceased by his loving parents, Ervin and Phyllis (Macker) Marvel.
A Life Well Lived, Barry will be remembered as the best husband, dad, and friend anyone could ask for. His kindness, calm spirit, and easy-going nature touched everyone who knew him. He will be sorely missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who loved him.
Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM at VFW Post 2547, 148 Allen Road North
Easton, MA 02356.
In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted.
"Gone Fishing"
"I've finished life's chores assigned to me,
And now I'm where I'm meant to be.
No boat or sea - just peaceful shore,
Where calm, still waters soothe once more.
The sun is warm, the day is kind,
My favorite fishing spot to find.
So when you see that empty chair,
Know I'm by the pond - resting there."
