Joseph J. McGarry

Joseph John McGarry, age 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. A lifelong resident of Easton, Massachusetts, Joe was deeply rooted in the community that he loved.

Born to John and Sadie (O'Byrne) McGarry, Joe grew up in Easton and graduated from Oliver Ames High School in 1964. He went on to earn his degree from Northeastern University in 1968, beginning a career defined by hard work, integrity, and success.

Joe was a loving father and grandfather and took immense pride in his family. He is survived by his four children: Sean McGarry of Easton and his wife Vanessa; Tara Anderson of Brockton and her husband Christopher; Thomas McGarry of Dighton and his wife Elizabeth; and Michael McGarry of Norton and his wife Tracy. He was the cherished grandfather of Ryan McGarry, Nolan McGarry, Caroline Botelho, Shea McGarry, Seth Anderson, Sydney Anderson, Katelyn McGarry, Jake McGarry, Deklan McGarry, Matthew McGarry, and Hannah McGarry.

Joe is also survived by his siblings Sheila McGarry, Christopher McGarry, Coleen Burns, Mary Gotsell, and John (Jack) McGarry, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Martha Healey.

Joe enjoyed a very accomplished professional life and was the co-founder of Benefit Management, Inc., a retirement planning company and loved his job doing sales as President of BMI. BMI was a second family to him and he took his ability to provide for his employees' families very seriously.

A devoted Boston sports fan, Joe rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his teams. He especially loved the game of golf and was a proud member of Thorny Lea Golf Club in Brockton, MA for more than 40 years, where he built lasting friendships and spent many happy days on the course. Joe also loved traveling.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Southeast Funeral Home, 93 Center St., North Easton. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 6, 2026, at The Fellowship, 604 Foundry St., South Easton, with a reception afterwards at Thorny Lea Golf Course, 159 Torrey St., Brockton.
