Thomas McVicar Obituary

McVicar, Thomas, Engineering Designer and Manager, Thomas Henry "Tom" McVicar, Jr., of Broomfield, 79, died Tuesday night at his home from complications of ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).
Tom was born November 29, 1931 in Jersey City, NJ. He earned a degree in Civil Engineering in 1955 at the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1955.
It was in Boulder where he met his wife of 58 years, the former Janice Lampe of Mason City, Iowa. They were wed at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Boulder September 5, 1953.
After college, Tom and Jan lived in Virginia, Newfoundland, Missouri, serving in the Army and then continuing his engineering career. He earned an MBA from the University of Missouri in 1962.
He moved with his family to Broomfield, CO in 1964.
From 1964 to retirement, Tom worked for a number of firms, and as a consultant, was awarded two US Patents, and was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Henry McVicar, his mother, the former Nellie Sokolowski, his sister, Dolores Perazzo of Ridgefield Park, NJ in 2001, his son Thomas Henry "Tommy" McVicar III in 1972, and a grandson, Thomas Henry "Hank" McVicar IV in 2011.
Tom is survived by his wife Janice, 11 children, and 20 grandchildren.
Services: Viewing and rosary at Rundus Sunday evening, a Funeral Mass Monday at 10:00 AM at Nativity of Our Lord Church, Broomfield with reception at church. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VNA Hospice at Home, the ALS Foundation, or a charity of the donor's choice.
