William Suvada Obituary

William (Bill) was born July 18, 1932 in Oak Creek, CO to Stephen and Evelyn (McChesnie) Suvada. After 83 years of a blessed life, he went to be with the Lord on June 2, 2016. Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret; his 4 children, William Jr., Krisi Johnson (Glen), Stephen, and Kelly Matta (George); 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Bill is also survived by his two sisters, Nancy (Suvada) Landauer and Linda (Suvada) Grover. Bill grew up in Denver, lived in Lakewood and finally settled in Conifer. Shortly after attending South High, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Boatswain's Mate, General Third Class, Beachmaster Unit 1 in the Korean War (1951-1953). On January 16, 1954, he married his sweetheart Margaret Belton. Bill began his career as a janitor and worked his way up to Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Capital Engraving. After retirement, Bill fulfilled a dream by opening South Platte Anglers, a fly fishing shop in Conifer. Bill enjoyed his involvement in the local VFW Post #12009, always advocating on behalf of veterans. He was famous for his love of the outdoors, his artistic ability, his insatiable sweet tooth, and his knowledge and love of fly fishing. A Celebration of Bill's life will be held on June 9, 2016 at 10:30 am at Horan & McConaty, 3101 S Wadsworth Blvd in Lakewood. A Military service will be held at 12:15 pm at Fort Logan, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave in Denver, followed by a reception at Horan & McConaty at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, you may donate in Bill's name to the VFW Post #12009, P.O. Box 1437, Conifer, CO 80433.

South Platte Anglers is where my family first met Bill. And we experienced such a delightful friendship over many years - just from asking for advice on fly fishing. I know you and Marge are enjoying the fishing Bill!

Gina and I were just talking about Bill and Marge the other day. Gina had just planted some leftover columbine seeds she had saved for Marge. I know they are both smiling down on family and friends. We loved you both!

I remember first meeting Bill at the South Platte Anglers. His smile, sense of humor and knowledge of fly fishing were amazing. Bill was simply the type of person we all ascribe to becoming in a community - friendly, caring, willing to help others, but not taking life so seriously that he didn't add in a little mischievous fun! My family will surely miss Bill. Our condolences to Marge and her children.
