Martha Gray Obituary

Visit the Malesich & Shirey Funeral Home and Colorado Crematory website to view the full obituary.

Martha (Marti) Ramona Gray, 82, reached the arms of Jesus on February 16, 2026. She was born on December 31, 1943, in Daytona Beach, Florida to George and Muriel Graham. Martha is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles (Chuck/Butch) Gray, their three daughters and husbands: Mona & Whitney Simons, Leah and Paul Korodaj, Sarah & Andrew Eppler, and seven grandchildren: Galen Eppler, Hayden Simons, Jacob Eppler, Hunter Simons, Erika Eppler, Holly Simons and Hope Korodaj. A memorial service will be held on March 2, 2026, at 1:30pm at Iglesia Ciudad de Dios Church 5255 W. Warren Ave; Denver, CO 80227.

Marti grew up in South Lakewood on 3.5 acres shared with her parents and grandparents. She attended Bancroft elementary school, Alameda Junior High and graduated from Alameda High School in 1961.

She raised and showed rabbits with 4H. Her favorite claim to fame was winning the 1959 Colorado State Rabbit Queen title at age 15. Marti was a master seamstress and enjoyed creating with her hands, be it knitting, crocheting, sewing clothes for herself and children, scrapbooking and crafting. She augmented the family income over the years by making custom draperies, formal wear, alterations and most recently a Santa suit.

Chuck and Marti met at Roller City skating rink and were married on September 4, 1965. Marti followed Chuck to Virgina during his years in the Navy. They moved back to Colorado in 1970 and into their forever home in Lakewood. Marti enjoyed raising their daughters and was very involved in their lives. She volunteered at Jesus Center School in the reading program and never missed a single event, including fieldtrips, plays, softball, volleyball, basketball and track. She ran carpool, cooked for youth club and somehow found time to walk every morning with her neighbors.

Marti cherished her grandkids and jumped at every opportunity to spend time with them. She was the best Grandma Daycare for all her grandchildren and jumped at every chance to attend every play, sporting event, graduation, birthday party and family camping trip.

She also enjoyed the outdoors and joined Chuck on camping, fishing, hiking and hunting trips. Marti was the navigator on their off-roading voyages which showed her adventurous spirit. She was game for just about anything! In July she went on a three-hour ATV ride above 10,000 feet. Marti relished quiet days with a puzzle as well as Wednesday morning coffee, laughing with her friends while playing scrabble and Skip-bo at the same time!

Marti had a deep compassionate heart and was quick to lend a hand to anyone. She served her community by delivering Meals-on-Wheels for 30 years, often befriending the seniors to help with groceries, gardening, transportation to doctor appointments and even hosting an estate sale! She is a beautiful soul and will be greatly missed on this side of Heaven.
