Sherell Lewis Obituary
Visitation will be Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 10:00 A.M until 12:00 P.M at the church.
Sherell(Rell) Lewis Jr. was born May 29,1987 to Master Sergeant Sherell Sr. and Patricia Ann Lewis(Jones) at Fort Polk, La. He was a 2005 graduate of Leesville High School. Sherell attended Lamar Saltar where he received his Barber's License through the Board of Barber Examiners. He is the proud owner Sonny Boys in Leesville, La On May 29, 2018, Rell was called home. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather A.D. Jones Sr., paternal grandparents Charlie and Ida Mae Lewis and one uncle Marshall David Jones. He leaves to cherish his precious memory his parents Master Sergeant Sherell Lewis Sr and Patricia Ann Lewis. His sister, Shotoya(Elijah) Ayers. His niece Aaliyah Ayers, and nephew Kalan Ayers all of Leesville, La. His loving fiancée, Jerneka Williams. Nine uncles, A.D.(Dorthie) Jones, Fred(Freddie Ann) Jones, Quincy(Amanda) Jones, Joseph(Shelisha) Jones, all of Leland, MS. Charlie Van(Diane) Lewis, Gerald(Mary Lou) Lewis, Donny Ray(Janice) Lewis, Hilbert(Johnnie Mae) Nesmith, Joe Nathan(Christine) Lewis of Andrews, S.C. Six aunts, Clarine Jones, Shirley Jones, Matalene Jones, all of Leland, Ms, AtLean Martin- Holloman of Los Angeles, Ca, Shawn Wright of Washington D.C. One great- Uncle Leroy(Loretha) Wright of Leland, Ms, three great aunts Margaret Riggins of Hollandale, MS, Pearlie Jordan of Jackson, MS and Rosie Riggins of Leland, MS. Sherell also leaves behind a host of cousins, honorary brothers and sisters, honorary children and friends.

Rell was a great guy. He had a heart of gold and a smile as bright as the sun. The pain that has been placed upon us is hard. Ive replayed the news in my mind over and over again, yet it seems so unreal. The Good Samaritan he was touched so many lives from day to day. His legacy will continue to live on and never forgotten. Rell was a kind and considerate young man who was a friend to all. He was a community minded young man who represented his generation of young people well. Although separated by miles, he and I, would frequently talk about politics, voting and world events. I salute Rell for his human compassion and for being the young man he was.

I didnt know Your son , but was impressed by the fact he would stop to get something out of the Road as our son or my husband would normally do . Sherell gave my son his first haircut when we were stationed at Fort Polk and he continued to be my sons barber up until I left. He was so kind hearted and always made you laugh even when you felt you couldn't. I hate I didn't get to know him personally but even with what I got from him I could feel he was a great person and I hate his time was cut short in process of being the great person he was. Prays for him and his family/friends in this difficult time.

I did not know Mr. Lewis but read of his tragic passing this morning and wished I could have had him as a friend. He was kind and compassionate and giving to family, friends and his community. I cannot imagine the pain his family and friends are experiencing these dark days after his life was cut short, too short. To Mr. Lewis' family, please know that there are so many people in this country who don't know you but, like me, stand by your side and support you through prayer. Tears fall as I write this to you...hugs and love and sympathy across the miles. Mr. Lewis was a role model for us all and will continue to be a gentleman who will never forgotten.

From the first time I met Rell at the barber shop, it was an instant connection. He watched me grow from an teenager to a man. Sherman as I have called you for over 50 year now, not Sherrell. We grew up together, went to church together, went to school together, played sports together, served in the Army together, and now must travel another road together.
You lost your son at age 31, I lost my daughter 2 years ago at age 30. Those nights when you can't sleep, looking for answers at 2, 3, 4 o'clock in the morning, please call me my phone stays on all the time. Your friend for life in Andrews, SC...
