Cherise Cecile "Cici" Bement

1958 - 2022/In Loving Memory

Salt Lake City, UT - Our beautiful Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Sister and friend Cherise Cecile "Cici" Bement passed away peacefully on January 8th, 2022, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident days before.

She was born on June 11th, 1958, in Salt Lake City and was the 4th of seven children, the only girl. She is preceded in death by her infant son Alvino Joseph Florez II, her parents Kenneth Allen (Marjorie) Bement and Oteria Wooten (John) Bagley and her three brothers Brent, David and Ken. She is survived by her children Amanda (Kona) Makakona, Monica Florez (Noall Foxley), Janda (Paul) Bouzakis, 12 grandchildren: Alisha (Pale), Savannah, Pailate, Braden, Naia, Kekona, Gabe, Kalei, Scarlet, Olivia, Mathis, and Chrissoula, and her siblings Rory (Rebecca), Steven, and Boyd.

Cherise had immense love and pride for her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was looking forward to the birth of her 1st great grandbaby (a girl) in March 2022. Throughout her life, Cherise loved to travel, be in the sunshine, camp and go on road trips. Unfortunately, she was unable to do much of these things the last several years due to health issues, neck and spine surgeries and later, the pandemic. Her last trip was in 2019 to California with her daughter, Amanda, and her family.

Cherise was Diet Coke's #1 customer, lover of Twizzlers, Doritos, and all things chocolate. She was a strong, generous, and extraordinary soul who helped anyone who needed it. She was known to take in and care for anyone who asked. Her beautiful green eyes, dazzling smile, sassy attitude and contagious laughter and humor will stay with those who loved her forever.

Cherise you are loved so deeply, and are missed so much by so many. We are at peace knowing you are no longer in pain. Please watch over us, we love you always.

Services will be held Friday, January 14th, at 12:00 pm at Larkin Mortuary 260 E. South Temple in Salt Lake City. Friends may call Thursday from 6 - 8 pm, and Friday 10 - 11:45 a.m. at the same location. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 E. 10600 S. in Sandy.

I learned of Cherise´s passing this morning and was so saddened. We were planning to get married, and she said she would wait when I left for the Air Force in 1962. She did wait, and we resumed plans when I returned in `66 and until other events intervened and I moved to Ohio. In 2020, I was lucky enough to randomly reconnect with Cherise and share many fun and happy reminiscences of her and her beloved family and neighborhood from those early years. Indeed, Cherise was a sweetheart, and I loved her and her family-particularly "Bud," an outstanding mentor of my high school days and memorable hunting companion. Best wishes and God´s choicest blessings to Cherise´s family and other loved ones who will surely miss her. I know life is eternal, and there will be opportunities to see her again.

I've known her brothers Rory and Steven since 1973.
I didn't meet her until 1990! - Then reconnected in 2013. We were good friends ever since.
We'd sit on her (west temple) patio an talk about everything.
One time I took her to their former house on 8th so to show her the garden that they were making including the house. Of course, "... they weren't doing anything right!" haha! - - She was a firecracker and a free spirit with attitude!! ... and she didn't mind telling folks what she thought. - She will be greatly missed. I am glad I got to know her.

Although I didn't know Cici personally, I grew up in the same ward as the Bements. I admired the family and the kindness they showed everyone. I have nothing but fond memories of them!

This woman will be missed. She had a wicked sharp sense of humor. She was so beautiful and loved her entire family so very much. I will always remember her pretty smile and mischievous look in her eyes when cracking a joke.
