Dr. Ludlow taught my freshman Honors Book of Mormon class in 1964-65. It has been a great blessing in my life. While specific memories of the class have faded over the years the feelings have endured and will never be forgotten. May your family be comforted in your loss. Dr. Ludlow touched so many lives!

Dear Luene and family,
Bonnie and I were saddened by the news of the death of your husband and father, Daniel H. Ludlow. We were unable to see you due to being away on assignment but want you to know of our love and sympathy for you all. We have been the beneficiaries of his goodness and service for many years. I remember the time I toured the Perth Australia Mission and had the opportunity to spend some time with him and Luene. You and he did such a great work with the missionaries and were a blessing to the people.
As some of those who grew up in Spanish Fork, Bonnie and I have known his name all of our lives.
His scholarship and interest in almost everything blessed the lives of people throughout the world. And his efforts at the headquarters of the Church were uniquely significant in his assignments.
May the comforting influence of the Spirit of the Lord accompany you all during this time of grief and sorrow.
With love and admiration,
Rex and Bonnie Pinegar

Brother Ludlow, save my Father, had a greater influence on me regarding The Book of Mormon and LDS scripture study than any other person I have ever known. When he first began teaching at BYU in 1955, I was fortunate to be a student in his first classes on The Book of Mormon. After one after class personal response to my inquiries, sensing my special interest in the subject, he invited me to go with him quickly to a small screening room where we saw the first film of the very recently discovered Lehi Stella from Central America. I have never forgotten it. Years later, as a High Councilman in the Antelope Valley Stake (1971 --) charged with supervising the Know Your Religion series in the Stake, I was his introductory host in the Palmdale, California chapel. I have basked under his wise instruction in BYU Education Weeks and in re-broadcasts of his presentations. I use his commentaries on scriptures and his supervised work, Encyclopedia of Mormonism, as teaching aids in my callings. As a young girl, my future wife enjoyed his acknowledgement as he walked past her home at the foot of the hill from Old Main when he was Studentbody President as an Aggie. Whenever I crossed his path preceding the start of a session of conference, he would always appreciatively recognize me, even though he was diligently using the time writing more church curriculum. My one regret is that I did not spent much more time in his tutelage and presence. Often my wife and I longed to be on his guided forays into the Holy Land. Our 9 children and the necessary means seemed to impede us. We shall miss him, but we will never forget him! There are still more "stella" to be instructed on!

Dear Ludlow family,
I remember when he was here in the Perth Australia Mission and we were investigating the church and how he touched me when he gave a talk in Seventh Ward and straight afterward, I asked to be baptized. I remember how he never forgot anyone. He was a great man and will be sorely missed in this life. My condolences to Luene and the family. The zone breakfasts in my home is one memory we will never forget.

My condolences to the Ludlow family. President Ludlow had a profound and lasting influence on my time as a missionary and in my continued church service and set the pattern for my life. His stories and teachings, touched many and these stories are still shared today. Not only was he my mission president, but also sealed my deceased parents in the Salt Lake Temple. His scriptural insights and commentaries have had and will continue to have lasting meaning to me.
My wife and I are greatful to have known him.

I wish to give my condolences to the Ludlow family and friends. As one of his missionaries, I will always remember the influence he had on all of us as he held firesides and taught the doctrine and principles of eternal life. I will never forget his stories of the games he played with his family. The one that sticks in my memory is where the family wrote all the items they had on index cards and then they went around the room to decide what they could live without, discarding one card at a time. As I remember the story, the item that ended up last on the table, the most important, was a testimony. What a great legacy of instruction and influence President Ludlow has had on many people throughout the world. I would give my best wishes and a hope for remembering his great legacy through fond memories to family and friends.

Dear Ludlow Family, May I express my sympathy to you in your loss. It was always a pleasure to see Bro. Ludlow at Benjamin Homecoming. I know he always considered it home. He was so willing to share his knowledge of the Book of Mormon with others. He met with our Young Women a couple of years ago on the Provo Temple grounds as they finished reading that book of scripture and shared his testimony with us. It was a great experience to sit at his feet. My mother use to remind me that she taught "Dan Ludlow" in primary when she first moved to Benjamin many years ago. He had an impact on people even as a young man. May you all be comforted at this time and feel of our Savior's love. Bishop David Huff , Benjamin 1st Ward

Dear Sister Ludlow and family (especially Kathy, Shauna, and Michelle),
I'm so sorry that family obligations prevent me from attending Dr. Ludlow's funeral. He is a fine man and a great teacher. I often think of his advice: "Consider the eternal perspective"-- difficult to achieve but important to attempt.

Sister Ludlow and Family,
President Ludlow had a powerful impact on me that has changed my life and the paths I have chosen. I will never forget his intellect and love for all of the sisters in the Australia Perth Mission. He instilled in me a desire to study and search and learn more about the gospel. He once said that he hoped he would never lose his testimony. I have often reflected on that statement and realized that if someone who I looked up to so much could be worried about losing his tesimony that I should do everything in my power to keep my testimony strong. I will never forget that great lesson.

Sister Ludlow & Family,
Please accept my most sincere sympathy and deepest regret that I cannot be there in person to express my love and appreciation for what you have done for me. As one of your many missionaries I too have been blessed beyond description for what you have taught me. I will be forever grateful for our association and the chance to be taught by both of you by word and deed. Please know of my love and may the Lord continue to bless you.

Dear Sister Ludlow and Ludlow Family:
Brother Ludlow was outstanding in every aspect of his life. Foremost, he is a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. As a teacher, scholar, administrator, and writer he was exceptional in his ability to understand complex issues, organize, categorize, and teach with great clarity and power. He touched thousands of lives directly as he taught and lectured over his career. He also had a profound influence on hundreds of thousands of people through his writing and through the broadcast of his presentations on BYU Television and other means. Personally, he was always kind, encouraging, and genuinely interested others. He will be greatly missed, but he is now engaged in a wonderful mission in the spirit world where he will continue to bless and teach. We wish special blessings of comfort and assurance to be with you in the coming days, weeks, and years.

Daniel H Ludlow was my Mission President 1982 -1983. His towering intellect has had a profound, eternal impact on me and on so very many who heard his voice. His influence has helped to shape my life, including my service in the church and my career as a lawyer.

Living next to Dan and Luene in Canyon Cove (Washington, UT) will always be one of our greatest blessings. We had several FHEs at his home where it was amazing to listen to his insight into the scriptures, yet he was so humble about his achievements. He had a marvelous sense of humor and was so incredibly proud of his beautiful family. He represents in every way all that was good and noble. While we on earth are sorrowing, heaven must surely be rejoicing today!

What an impressive life story. Daniel H. Ludlow's legacy is literally etched in stone and it appeares he was every bit the giver, during his life.
