Elkhart, Indiana-David Eppich peacefully and joyfully reunited with his heavenly family on April 2, 2024 in Elkhart, IN with his earthly family at his side.

David was born to Ross and Gladys Eppich on March 1, 1942 in Neola, UT. His childhood spanned several Utah towns, ultimately graduating from Delta High School. While living in Milford as a teenager, David met his sweetheart, Susan McCulley. They married June 14, 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple and had five children.

David attended BYU where he earned a degree in Chemistry and was a member of the Air Force ROTC. He served for four years as a Captain in the USAF working with radar. His passion for airplanes and flight endured throughout his life after an honorable discharge to civilian life.

David found employment with Miles Labs (Bayer Inc.) in Elkhart, IN working first in research and then in corporate compliance as a pharmaceutical and agricultural product auditor. He traveled extensively for his job, but especially loved visiting Japan, New Zealand and Guatemala. He retired in 2003 after 33 years.

As a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, David served faithfully in many callings. During retirement, he and Susan served together in the Family History Center and as temple workers at the Chicago Temple, which he often said were the best years of his life.

David found joy in making and flying sail planes, operating his HAM Radio, tinkering with computers, reading spy thrillers and historical books, listening to music and enjoying a good laugh. More than any of these, he loved his family. He was soft-spoken, hard-working, gentle and kind. He was our hero and the love of our lives.

David is survived by his wife of 61 years Susan, children Julie (Rick) Anderson, Roger, Cheri (Adam) Pitcher, and James. He is also survived by siblings Gil (Linda), Earle (Maria), MaryAnn (Brent – deceased) Hill and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Gladys and Ross, and his son Brian. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 11 at Premier Funeral Services in Midvale, UT. Viewing at 10am with service at 11am. Burial at Elysian Gardens, Millcreek, UT. In lieu of flowers, consider donating to the LDS Humanitarian Fund or your local food bank.
