Dennis Rosier Obituary

Dennis Hatch Rosier

1937 ~ 2022

Kaysville, UT—Dennis Hatch Rosier passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. Dennis was born in Woods Cross, Utah, on October 30, 1937, to William Wallace Rosier and Lillian Hatch Rosier.

He was blessed with the loyal friendship of four brothers and three sisters throughout his life. Their family was close and enjoyed working and playing together. Dennis was known for his stories of life on the farms where his family lived and worked as he grew up. Dennis especially enjoyed working closely with his father and brothers. The experiences which they shared were often challenging but special to them because of the love they felt for each other.

In high school, he discovered a love for woodworking, and later at Snow College he found his gift for all things mechanical. Dennis finished his education at Utah State University where he earned a degree in automotive technology. He went on to enjoy a distinguished and satisfying career teaching high school auto mechanics at Davis High School in Kaysville for 35 years. Several of his students became professional automotive technicians or made their careers in related fields, and credit Mr. Rosier as a significant influence in choosing their professions.

Dennis served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern Australia Mission, laboring in the cities of Melbourne, Ballarat and Adelaide. He enjoyed serving the Australian people in teaching the gospel and by blessing lives on occasion through his mechanical abilities. These experiences also strengthened his own conversion to the gospel and deepened his commitment as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Dennis married Iris Belliston in the Logan Temple on December 27, 1962. To them were born ten children, Richard (Kathleen), Robert (Karen), Julie (Dave) Thacker, Ronald (Shelley), Ryan (Jill), Stephanie (Bart) Mortensen, Stephen (Ann), Kathryn (Matthew) Robbins, Mary Ellen, and Karen (Jeff) Peterson.

Fruits of their vigilant parenting efforts have been abundant as Dennis and Iris have enjoyed their posterity of 43 grandchildren and currently 6 great-grandchildren. When the grandchildren were young, Dennis felt blessed to have what he referred to as his own Primary.

Dennis likely would have taught forever had not heart difficulties gotten in the way. A heart attack caused early retirement, and his personal challenge thereafter was battling heart disease. Eventually, he received a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) which added nearly a decade to his life. The family extends special thanks to the Intermountain Medical Center LVAD professionals and to all who have helped Dennis through his struggle with heart disease over the years, as well as to the hospice team who cared for him.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, older brothers Dale and William, younger brother Bill, and daughter Mary Ellen. He is survived by his wife and family and siblings Jean, Gary (Dixie), John (Sue), Linda, David and Lauri (Steven) Clark and sister-in-law Diane.

We loved Dennis. We also loved Iris. We are thrilled that they had 10 children and know he will love them forever. He was a friend to Allen in Moroni, and a roommate to him in college so we were able to see him from time to time. We send our love and condolences to his family. Know that he was well loved by his friends.

Dennis and are first cousins, and when we were in first grade we usually got to sit at desks close to each other because of our "Hatch" name. Later after LaVar and I moved to Kaysville we shopped at Bowman's supermarket, and we saw Dennis, he always came over and gave me "hugs". What a sweet cousin!

Our sympathy to the family. My Father, Henry Taylor, was a cousin to Iris. Our families were close when we all lived in Nephi. I met Dennis at a family reunion. He seemed like a great guy.
Later I got know him better at summer Vocational education workshops. He and I both taught automotive technology. He at Davis High, I at Cottonwood and West Jordan High. I considered him a great person.
Sorry to hear of his passing and our best to Iris and Family.
