Dearest Vandertoolen Family

Nancy and I were saddened to hear of Jarris' passing. Our thoughts went back to the ward and to you, John, and Jarris. Your genuine smiles and greetings to everyone were part of what we came to love about our ward and neighborhood. We know that not being with Jarris for a time will create a great emptiness for you and your family. May the faith that you so generously shared with Nancy and me sustain you through this difficult time. God bless.

I always loved to see Jarris, whether it was at church when I was a teenager, or at her house visiting Gayla, or even running in to her in the temple in later years. She always seemed happy to see me and genuinely interested in me and what was going on in my life. I know she will be greatly missed, but what a beautiful example to her friends and her family!

John and Family,

How sad we are to have lost such a great lady. We certainly will miss seeing her at Church on her little bench next to John but she will always be there in Spirit. John may you be blessed with all the great memories the two of you have shared. We love you and will be there for you.
