Joan Haglund Obituary

Joan Loader Haglund "Joanie" Joan Loader Haglund, age 66, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family November 3, 2006 due to a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Joan was an icon of strength, courage and compassion to everyone who knew her. Her smile and warm personality left a lasting impression to those who met her. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten because love is eternal and she has now become a part of every soul that loved her. Joan's memories will always bring joy and happiness and a smile (a Joanie smile). Her legacy and joy in life include three beautiful children, Sherrie (Art) Kline, Pamela (Steve) Irvine and Julie (Rory) Klungervik; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Joan was born December 8, 1939 in Salt Lake City to Virgil and Zelma Drake Loader who preceded her in death. Joan was married in the Salt Lake Temple to Douglas Haglund (later divorced) and met Shawn Hansen who became her husband and soul mate. She is survived by her three loving brothers, Johnny and Richard Loader and Bill Barnes. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 7th, 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, (500 North Main St., Pleasant Grove). Friends and family may call at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 South, Salt Lake City) on Tuesday, November 7th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. The family would like to thank Care Source Hospice for their warm, courageous support and understanding. Any donations to Hospice would be warmly appreciated. We would also like to thank the Brighton 12th Ward for their loving and helpful services.

Shawn, Joanies daughters and family,
Joanie was such a bright light in our lives when we lived in Salt Lake. We worked with Joanie at Utah Title and enjoyed our working hours because of Joanie. If she had problems, we did not know about them. She talked about her family warmly. Joanie was very proud of her family, her girls. Joanie had unforgettable charisma. We should all be so lucky.

To Joan's family, I am so sorry to hear of your mom's passing! She was such a special woman, spunky and full of life! I worked with her at First Security Bank for 7 years and she made each day a great one there. She always made me smile. You had a truly remarkable mom, which I'm sure you know. She was so proud of all of you. May God Bless and Comfort you at this time and always!

In the 1950's two teenage girls met and became very close friends.
They attended Jr. High and High School together and attended the same church. They spent alot of time together doing all the fun things that teenagers do. Time passed and they went their separate ways to become wifes, mothers, grandmothers and great grandmothers. But they never forgot each other. They never will. I will miss you Joan but I will never forget you.

Love, Toni

When Joan was born, she cried and the world rejoiced.
Live your life in a manner so that when you die the world cries and you rejoice.

Seeing death as the end of life is like seeing the horizon as the end of the ocean.

Pam, to make a wonderful daughter like you your mom had to be pretty special. The months and years ahead will be hard but only because you had such a great relationship with her.
Death--- the last sleep? No, the final awakening.
Take care--Susan
