Lewis Kimball Lloyd, age 79, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, physician, and friend, passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side on Friday, October 3, 2025, following a quiet and courageous 18-month battle with brain cancer. Kimball's kindness, unconditional love and eternal optimism blessed the lives of all who knew him.

Kimball was born to loving parents, Lewis Haslam and Lois Clark Kimball Lloyd, in Salt Lake City, Utah, on April 22, 1946. He enjoyed an idyllic childhood with two older sisters, Suzanne and Kathryn, and two younger siblings, Janet and Dan. He grew up on the lower avenues and later the Yalecrest area of Salt Lake, graduating from East High School in 1964.

Kimball married his high school sweetheart, Elaine Randall, on Dec 15th, 1967 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with 7 children, Brigham (deceased at birth), Rich, Lisa, Emma, Randall, Ali, and Nate, and 23 grandchildren. Even with a busy career and life of devoted church service, family always came first for Kimball. Each child and grandchild was convinced of being Kimball's favorite! Kimball's creative mind was constantly inventing new games and activities to entertain the family whether in the backyard, on family road trips, or at the beach. Favorite family trip destinations included the Randall cabin in the Uintas, the St.George condo, and Newport Beach.

Kimball loved sports and was an avid Utah Utes fan who loved watching and attending games with his family. Many family vacations revolved around cheering on the Utes in destinations from Hawaii to Texas, Notre Dame to the Rose Bowl. Kimball was also a life-long New York Yankees fan dating back to his childhood days rooting for Mickey Mantle and spent his final evening watching his Yankees beat the Red Sox while enjoying a bowl of ice cream.

Serving as a young missionary in Western Canada from 1965-1967 began a life-time of devoted service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Kimball loved serving others! He had a deep love for and trust in the Savior and willingly served wherever he was called. He exercised faith with an unwavering testimony of Jesus Christ as he served in many callings including bishop, high councilor, gospel doctrine teacher, young men's president, stake athletic director, ward mission leader and faithful home teacher. He was blessed to serve a second mission, this time with Elaine, in the Georgia Atlanta Mission as an area medical adviser in the southeastern United States. He and Elaine loved serving in Georgia for 18 months from 2017-2019. They fell in love with gracious southern hospitality and made wonderful friends.

Kimball graduated from the University of Utah Medical School in 1975, then completed an internship in California and residency at the University of Utah. As an obstetrician, Kimball considered it a privilege to participate in the miracle of birth. Throughout his 37-year career, he never failed to recognize the joy and sacredness of each delivery. Patients valued Dr. Lloyd's shared excitement with each pregnancy and they often expressed gratitude for his calm, reassuring presence in the delivery room. Kimball worked tirelessly until his retirement at age 70, bringing over 8,000 babies into the world. In addition to his formal practice, he was always "on call" for friends, neighbors or family who needed medical assistance or counsel, and did so willingly and graciously.

Kimball is survived by his wife, Elaine Randall; five children, Lisa (John Paul) Giles, Emily (Blair) Allen, Randall (Aubrey) Lloyd, Alison (Peter) Theurer, Nathan (Danielle) Lloyd; daughter-in-law, Marianne Lloyd Burnett; siblings, Suzanne (Doug) Harwood, Kathryn Stewart, Janet Lloyd, and Daniel (Jessica) Lloyd. He is preceded in death by two sons (Brigham and Richard) and his parents.

Our family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to all the earthly angels who have helped support and care for Kimball over the past 18 months. If desired, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Richard Kimball Lloyd Memorial Scholarship for students at the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business.

Funeral services for Kimball will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Olympus Stake Center (2700 East 4500 South). Family and friends are invited to visit at the church prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. or Wednesday evening, October 8th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn (2350 East 1300 South). Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
