Lane William Josie

Lane William Josie Husband, Father, Brother, Friend, Grandfather 1938 ~ 2010 Lane William Josie age 71, passed away peacefully at his home on Jan. 8, 2010 of pancreatic cancer. He was born on June 10, 1938 to Norma Louise Beckstead and Joseph Josie. He was born in Bridgeland, Utah but moved to Tabiona, Utah at the age of six. Although Lane lived in West Jordan, Utah the majority of his adult life, he considered Tabiona "home" and it was always dear to his heart. He visited Tabiona often and loved it very much. He married his childhood sweetheart, Collie Defa also from Tabiona on May 9, 1958 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Lane was the Owner/President of Reids Concrete Service, Inc. since 1971 where he specialized mostly in residential footings and foundations. He completed approx. 25,000 foundations during his career. He made many friends and was well respected in his field. Lane was known to have mentored many contractors whom implemented his successful business practices. Most everyone in the foundation industry was known to have worked for Lane at one time or another. Although Lane loved his work and his time spent in Tabiona, nothing was more dear or meant more to him than his family. His love and concern for his family was always foremost on his mind. He considered his calling as a husband, father and grandpa his most prized possession. He loved his grandchildren, loved talking about them and spending time with them. He especially loved watching them play basketball and baseball and was a fixture at Bingham, Riverton and West Jordan High School athletic events. He actually watched his grandson, Andre play ball just three days before his death. He was recently awarded and recognized by the West Jordan High School Basketball team as the #1 Jag Fan! He and his wife Collie were known as Grandma and Grandpa to more than just their own biological grandchildren. They were known to love and accept their grandchildren's friends as their own. Lane accepted and loved all of his grandchildren and was proud of all of their accomplishments no matter what they were. He was a proud fan of the Utah Jazz, had front row seats and enjoyed going to the games with his wife. Many people would call them up and mention they saw them on the news during a game. Lane will be remembered as a very kind and generous person who gave to many. He was quick to help a friend in need and will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank Intermountain Home Care and Jenkins-Soffe South Valley for the love, care and respect they showed to their Husband and Father during and after his illness. He is survived by his wife, Collie; sons, Kelly (Teri), Joe (Tara); daughters, Monica (Kyle) Aston, Andrea (Dale) Ashton; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Bennett Josie (Alfild); sisters, Jolene Giles, Nola Reid (John); sisters-in-law, Gwen Josie and Emma Jean Josie. Preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Isaac; great grandson, Kristian; brothers, Jack and Darrell Josie; sister, Marjorie Broadhead; and brother-in-law, Verl Broadhead. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 12 noon at the West Jordan LDS Ward, 2700 W. 7000 S. A viewing will be held Tuesday, January 12, 2010 from 6:30-8:30 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy (10600 S.) and 10:30-11:30 am at the church on Wednesday.
