Monica we are so sorry about your dad, we just found out today. He was an awesome man and AJ will never forget the times he took Kolton and him to the Jazz games. He still has good memories of that. Words can not describe how sorry we are. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I met Lane for the first time doing an inspection in Sandy about 25 years ago. He picked me up and held me over the hole, threatened to drop me in if I didn't pass his inspection. It was one of the few times I was speechless. He was one of the hardest working men I have ever known. My sympathy to all of Layne's family.

I started in construction in '74 building homes on foundations by Lane, years later I inspected foundations by Lane. He was always a pleasure to be around, a true proffessional with a fine sense of humor. He always knew me on sight but for some reason could never remember a name. I was sadddened to hear of our lose. My prayers go out to the Josie family.

Words can not begin describe how Lane influenced my life. Not only was he Grandpa Josie to me on the softball field but also off of it. I spent a lot of time with he and his family because of the friendship I have with Calista. The man loved his buffets:, he was brave enough to let Calista and I work for him one summer, he sponsored me in softball (Reid's Concrete), and provided me with the opportunities to see a little bit of the world outside of Utah. It is a comforting knowledge that we have that he is no longer in pain and he was welcomed through the veil by his loved ones that have passed before him. My prayers are with the entire family at this time.

We will miss the laughs, jokes and love he gave to us all. We will miss traveling around with him and Grandma Josie for West Jordan basketball. He was and still will be the Jag's #1 Fan. " Until we meet again" Grandpa I know you will be watching over each of us always.

Josie Family,
Just a little story about Lane. When I first got into the inspection business, back in 1991, I started basically as a permit tech for SL County. Lane Josie would call, and I would answer the phone “This is Layne”, and he would always stutter a little and say….. ya I need to schedule a foundation inspection for tomorrow, and so on. After a while I became building certified and I went out to do my first foundation inspection for Lane Josie, and I introduced myself as “Layne, that guy in the office you used to schedule your inspections with”, and he laughed for a while and said “I always wondered how you knew it was me calling, (this was before caller ID) you always answered the phone “This is Layne” it drove me crazy trying to figure out how you always knew it was me.
Just a funny story, Lane was a very hard working, great guy and will be missed!
Sincerely,
Layne Western

Josie Family,
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. I have known members of your family for a very long time and wish you all the best in my thoughts and prayers. Lane was always a hoot when I would meet him on the job to do his inspection. He was always direct and straight to the point. The obituary was correct when it mentioned the many people who once worked for Reids that are now trying to provide the same type of quality work Reids provided. I wish you all the very best.

We hate saying goodbye to Grandpa Josie, so we'll just say see you later. Collie and family, thanks for sharing your family and home with our family. Thank you for adopting Nick as another grandson. Ball games and tournaments were always funner with you and Lane, sitting around shooting the bull. He could always tell a great story. We love you and your family.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you and yours. Love to you, Phil and Andi

Dear Collie,
We were so sorry to hear of Lane's passing away. We remember raising our children together there in West Jordan and the good times we had as a ward family. Collie, you were with me in the Relief Society presidency during that time, and I remember what a vibrant, loving person you were to work with - and so fun to be around. We pray that the days ahead will be softened by the sweet memories you and Lane share and the loving care and association of your children and grandchildren. And the sure knowledge of life everlasting.
Our love, and God bless,
Rulon & Joye Cluff

Collie and Family,
My family could not express enough of our feelings for your loss. Our hearts and prayers go right out to you all during this very rough time in your life. I can tell you when I first met Lane at a softball diamond (at that time I believe Monica and Andrea were playing together at Harmony Park). Well a couple of years later I was roped into coaching this woman’s softball team. Cindy had already been playing on Lane’s team now for a couple of years. This year was 1993 and that is when I really had the opportunity to see the generosity of this family. I lost track of how many tournaments we went to and with all the league play, Lane and Collie funded everything! I mean everything, hotels, meals, etc. Well it all came together for some reason that particular year, winning the State Championship and every other tournament we played in. If I asked for a seat at the Jazz game, I was never denied. They made you feel like you were part of the family. We all will miss Lane, but I am very grateful the time my family was able to spend with him.
With Love,
Ken and Cindy Meacham

Dear Josie Family,
I have many fond memories of being in the Josie home. Many of my years growing up with Andrea was spent having sleep overs and many days swimmimng in the backyard. There was always a love in your home and I always felt welcome. Being so young around the age of 9 through High school, I was greatly influenced by your family and feel blessed to have known the man who was a great father figure. God bless you all and my heart to yours at this time.
