Nadine Arthur Bateman was born in Salt Lake City, UT to John Paul Arthur and Inez Smith. She worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken for about 28 years-first as a waitress and then as a manager. She also worked at AT&T for 17 years.
Nadine was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was also over the Cub Scouts in the primary for many years. She was a visiting teacher partner and made many friends. Nadine was a volunteer with the American Red Cross. She was also over the senior luncheons in Snowflake, AZ Stake. She was part of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers in Utah and became the president in the Snowflake, Arizona camp. She was involved in the Wasatch Doll Club with her sister-in-law, Kathy Arthur.
Nadine also ran a ceramic shop in her basement for many years. She brought it all with her to Arizona. She did love to make her porcelain dolls, but she loved her classes and students more and taught them many different projects.
Nadine is survived by her children, Susan Lofthouse, Colleen Butterfield (Doss), Rex Eugene Bateman Jr., RaNae Kafer (Carl), LaDean Howard (Steve), Thomas Nielson Bateman, and John Ray Bateman (Stacy); 25 grandkids; 31 great-grandkids; and 2 great-great-grandkids. Also survived by her sister, Rita Chase; and brother, John Paul Arthur Jr. (Kathy). Preceded in death by her parents, as well as Rex Eugene Bateman, Sr., Kenneth Lofthouse, Brandon Bateman, William Chase, and baby Mears.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at Murray City Cemetery, 5600 South Vine Street, Murray, UT, with a viewing at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, from 11 a.m. - 12 noon, prior to the graveside.
