Ruby Dittmer Obituary

Ruby Gayle Dittmer 1922 ~ 2006 R. Gayle Dittmer, age 84, died peacefully in her daughter's home October 11, 2006 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born June 9, 1922, Gayle was the 6th of 10 children born to Andrew McKay and Etha Fae Smith. After graduation from Granite High School, Gayle married William John Dittmer November 27, 1941. Gayle supported the war effort by working at Clearfield Naval Base during most of the three and 1/2 years of separation from Bill as he fought in the European Theatre of World War II. After the war Gayle and Bill were never separated again until his death in 2004. Mother will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, positive attitude, kindness towards all and the unwavering support she had for her family. Gayle is survived by one brother, Lee (Marilyn) Smith; and two sisters, Dorothy (Udell) Hansen and Fay (Gene) Moss; two sons, Gordon and Richard Dittmer; and one daughter, Beverly (Dean) Ainsworth; also three grandchildren and five great-grand-children. Preceded in death by parents; husband; three brothers, Walt (Dorothy), Afton and Andrew Jr. Smith; and three sisters, Lois (Russ) Tueller, Frankie (Percy) Cottle and Sherron (Jeff) Largent. Funeral services will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 10600 South 1950 East, 12:00 noon Tuesday, October 17th. Friends and family may call one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Elysian Gardens Cemetery, 1075 East 4580 South. The family would like to thank Good Shepherd Hospice (Kathy, Sonnie, Ann, Carolyn, Alice, Carol, Robin and Sister Julie) for their dedication and love. Online condolences to www.larkinmortuary.com
