Scott Peterson Obituary

Scott Lawrence Peterson
June 3, 1968 ~ July 27, 2013
Scott Lawrence Peterson, our dear husband, father, son, brother, and uncle, passed away July 27, 2013 at age 45 in Newberg, Oregon. The oldest child of Lawrence R. Peterson and Janet Fischer Peterson, he was born June 3, 1968 in Provo, Utah.
Growing up in Cottonwood Heights, he attended Brighton High School. Always an excellent student and a voracious reader, Scott earned a B.A. in history from BYU and an MBA from the University of Utah. He worked as an accountant in Utah and Oregon.
Scott was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served an honorable mission in the Japan Tokyo South Mission. Later, he served in Scouts, the elders' quorum, and Primary.
Scott and Anna Zook were married September 30, 1999 in the Salt Lake Temple by his great-uncle Dr. Robert D. Matheson. He was very proud of their children, Andrew, Emily, and Bella. Scott enjoyed playing basketball with his brothers, running, fishing, hiking, computers, and going to the beautiful Oregon coast with his family.
He is survived by his wife, children, parents, and sister, Stephanie Bywater (David), and his brothers, Thomas (Megan), Gregory (Audrey), Jeffrey (Vicky), and Brent, and by many Peterson and Zook family members who loved him very much.
Funeral services were held August 3 in Dayton, Oregon. Burial in McMinnville.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my dear freind Scott Peterson. I also rejoice that he was a big part of my my life and was such a true freind. Scott was a great example to me and influenced me for good. Scott was more than a best friend...we did everything together. Scott and I served togehter in the deacon's, teacher's, and priest's quorum presidencies. We played church ball, jogged, camped, fished and skied together. We were roomates at college. He went on my senior trip with me, and he took me on his birthday trip to Flaming Gorge, he was at the airport when I left for my mission, he was there when I met my wife, he was at my wedding. Scott's support and calm influence tempered my impulsiveness. He did what a good freind does - he gave me good advice and then loved me even when I did otherwise. I looked up to Scott in a hundred other ways. And I know he influenced many others for good. He was a freind to everyone. Scott has earned hero status in my life and I honor him for the good man that he is. I will miss him. All of my love and concern go out to the entire Peterson Family. Goodbye Scott, you are the best!

I am so sorry to hear of Scott's passing. I was always appreciative of his friendship. I have fond memories standing in the Peterson's front yard when we were young and trying to hit tennis balls over my house with a baseball bat, or flying gliders off the hill in his back yard, or just jumping on the trampoline. Scott was a good person and the Peterson's were great neighbors. I know that Scott will be missed. I'm grateful for the kind friendship and gentle influence Scott had on my life as we grew up together. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.
