Ann Canady, 72, of Des Moines, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 31, 2016, with her loving family by her side.

Visitation will be held at Iles Westover Chapel in Des Moines on Friday, January 6 from 4-7 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Grace Church, 4200 E. 25th St., Des Moines, on Saturday, January 7 at 10 a.m.

Ann was born September 12, 1944 in Los Angeles to John and Margery (Hillman) Goplerud. She grew up in Clarkston, WA and graduated from Washington State University. She married the love of her life, Mike Canady, in 1966. They lived in Hartford, CT for six years, then moved to their current home in Des Moines.

Ann devoted her life to God, her husband, children, and grandchildren. She loved and cared for others with all her heart.

Ann is survived by her loving husband, Mike Canady; 3 daughters, Susie Morris (Chuck), Molly Pirtle (Will), Mary Meskimen (Brent); 1 son, Michael Canady (Betsy); 10 grandchildren and 1 on the way; 2 sisters, Carole Rogers (Al) and Susan Davis (Chuck).

She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial contributions can be made to Freedom for Youth.

Molly, oh sweet Molly, you have been on my mind over the holidays but I dont know how to reach you. Then I learn of this. Such wonderful sweet memories of your mom being loving caring and so giving. She was a second mom to me in our childhood years. I am blessed to have known her.

Mike and family. We are so sorry to hear of Ann's passing. She was the sweetest! Our Joel and your Michael were good friends all through school and did hilarious skits in high school. They were even born 1 day apart and Ann got some of my cards in the hospital and I got some of hers. Ann taught our daughter Kristen piano.
