Benjamin Robert "Ben" Jaques, 25, died Saturday, May 22, 2010, in Des Moines. In agreement with Ben's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
The family will greet friends at a memorial gathering honoring Ben's life from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 28, at Johnston Evangelical Free Church in Johnston. There will be no service held. Private committal services will take place at a later date.
Ben was born June 7, 1984, in Des Moines, IA, to Robert and Nadia (Holton) Jaques. He graduated with distinction from Iowa State University with a bachelor's degree in IT Business Management. Ben had a fun competitive nature; he enjoyed Monopoly and card games, especially playing cribbage with his grandparents. Ben also enjoyed reviewing movies and discussing their merits.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his parents, Robert and Nadia Jaques of Urbandale; two brothers, Peter (Megan) Jaques and Joseph Jaques both of Des Moines; grandparents, Gerald "Jerry" and Nadia "Nicki" Janda Holton of Chicago, IL; niece, Keturah Jaques; and his beloved dog, Zeus. Being from a large family, Ben is also survived by a host of many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and their families.
