Robert N. Allen Sr.

CARROLLTON - Robert "Bobby" N. Allen Sr. 81, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2015, after an extended illness. Born in Warwick Co, VA, Bobby was the son the late Herbert B. and Sarah Kellum Allen and was a former Newport News resident, and had been a resident of Carrollton for the past 30 years. In addition to his parents, Bobby is preceded in death by a son, Robert N. Allen, Jr., and a daughter, Cheryl Ann Allen and two brothers, Jimmy and Charles Allen. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 32 years, Gloria Brandt Allen, three daughters, Barbara McGee, and husband, Donnie, Sharon Greenley, and Crystal Hale: a son, Michael D. McCormick; nine grandchildren and six grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews and extended family. Bobby will be remembered as a self-employed general contractor, pipe-fitter and waterman. He was an avid gardener, a passionate fisherman and enjoyed playing his guitar and banjo. Some may remember Bobby as a member of the country band, Bobby and the Country Three. A graveside funeral service will be held 2 pm, Wednesday, September 30, 2015, in St. Luke's Memorial Park, with Rev. Joel Meitz officiating. Family and friends will gather 7-8 pm, Tuesday, September 29, in Colonial Funeral Home, Carrollton. Service arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Carrollton, Smithfield, Isle of Wight and the surrounding communities.
